  • Hi, me again! Just looking through your SOA again and I notice one or two things that stand out!!

You don't have anything down for birthdays, entertainment, house insurance. Even if you don't put anything by on a monthly basis still put it down as it is an expense that needs to be accounted for.

Also as well I notice that you only spend £20 a month on petrol. If you are spending so little on petrol, do you really need a car? Could you do without it? How much is your car worth as that would be helpful to put that in the asset part of the form. Maybe you could sell it and use the proceeds towards your debts.

Hope this helps, and hopefully somebody alot more knowledgeable than me will be along in a minute.

    Ta again for replying...

Hmmm I'll have a look at the holidays and birthdays again... but I don't have any household insurance. That is included in with my rent which we worked out with our landlord!

I do need my car unfortunatly. It is our only car and I need it primarily to get to the station, as there is no bus that is near enough to walk to to get to the station in the morning and it's too far to walk as well. Also, we use my car to fetch my partners son - his mother doesn't drive and even if she did, I wouldn't want her to know where we live (she's mad at the best of times :D )
  • Hi Sue,

    Thanks for the welcome!

I do pay toward everything - He pays £200.00 toward the rent but I never see it as I pay the full rent and then he gives me the money toward the rent which then goes on the groceries, his son's haircut and Kumon so bang, there it goes!

I've printed this SOA and it's now stuck very firmly on the fridge... so he's got no choice but to see exactly what a difference a contribution toward the house would make!

I've thought about opening up a seperate bank account for the debts that I owe and transferring the amounts into that bank account so that I keep my debts seperate from anything he contributes toward the house. The Natewest loan, CC, Overdraft, and newlook debts are mine alone and I don't want him to be paying for them! It's just not fair!

Put the £200 into your income part of the form as this will give a clearer picture of your income, as this money does go towards rent etc like you say. Could he afford to give you more, I mean a 50/50 split would be the best case scenario as it seems a little unfair that he only pays £200 and you pay the rest! I agree that he shouldnt help with your debts if you dont want him to, but if you worked out exactly how much you need each month to run the house, rent, gas, electric, food etc and also the arrears of water and council tax then you will have a figure for him and say you want him to pay half - to me that seems the fairest way and maybe if gave you more in the beginning you wouldnt be in arrears with your water and council tax!

Sorry to sound harsh, but hoping that he will realise that he is being unfair and start playing ball!!

  • Geeez you are quick! LOL!

I am planning on doing that today - working out just how much I pay toward each of the essentials in the house - and then I'll have a word with him about increasing what he pays!

I've not added his £200.00 in here yet because this is where I stand right at this moment! He's a week late on paying me the £200.00! When he does I'll amend the SOA!

I would check with your landlord to see if that is both buildings and contents insurance. When we rented years ago the rent included buildings insurance, but we had to get our own contents insurance. I would hate to think that you thought you were covered for loss, damage etc to any contents and try and make a claim only to discover that you're not covered!

Is £20 a realistic amount that you spend on petrol in a month? Just asking, as with the price of fuel these days it doesn't seem very much for a month's supply of petrol.

Just checked our rent agreement and yes, it includes both buildings and contents insurance!

£20.00 is all I put aside each month for petrol and it's all I use! I couldn't believe it either but I can almost fill my tank with that £20.00!

Excellent! Just wanted to make sure you were covered for both.

  • Anymore advice for me from anyone?
  • Bump... because I need some advice really!

I've heard back from the majority of the companies I owe debt to and most have been extremely helpful and I've set up payment plans for all of them BUT there are some companies who've not even acknowledged the letter I wrote asking for a breakdown of what I owe at ahat APR... what do I do with them??
  • ooohhh and I've had some good news.

My car, which is registered in my mothers name, received a parking fine back in 2007. The ticket was removed by a member of the public before I returned to my car (14 minutes over parking paid time!) and so I never knew anything about this until about 3 months ago when my mother rang to tell me that a letter had arrived saying the council will be round to take away my car in 7 days due to non payment of this said parking fine or pay a total of £2500.00 in fees (my car is worth like £500.00)... she went nuts  and I denied ever knowing anything about this  which I seriously didn't!

so we got in touch with the council who said they'd sent several registered letters to my mothers address (I don't live there!) and all the letters had been signed for but they were willing to look into it! errrrrr not one of the said letters could be proven to have been delivered... ie no signature.

So today my mother rang up the council (3 days after their deadline) to find out how the investigation went and what the outcome was and they are going to drop the fine down to it's original amount of £25.00! :T
  • This weekend hasn't been so bad!

Friday I got home to 2 suspicious looking brown envelopes which I normally would chuck straight into the unopened pile of other suspicious looking brown envelopes :o but since I've recently opened all of them:T , I didn't have a pile to chuck them on! So I chose to ignore them  - for 1 night! Needless to say, I didn't sleep well knowing they were there calling my name so at about 4:30am I went downstairs, put on the kettle and sat down to open them both! The first one I had a giggle at - it was from the Baillif stating he was "disapointed that you'd not kept to our arranged agreement concerning payment" and I was very confused... because the balance owed at the top of the page said "£0.00". So I put that one aside to call Mick when it got later in the morning. The second was another letter about the same debt dated 2 days after the first for the same debt stating I owed the full amount outstanding! Ok I giggled at this again because a) I was tired and b) what a bunch of loosers if they can't keep their paperwork up to date and correct. I then went back to bed and slept like a baby until my stepson woke me at 7am! Later that morning I called Mick, my friendly baillif and told him the story - he was very surprised at the mistake and apologised profusely as he suspected it may be his error - he keeps getting me confused with someone of a similar surname in our road! LOL! What are the chances we both owe council tax! :rotfl: Well, he's rectified that mistake and we set up a second payment plan for the other debt I owe that he is dealing with. All in all, a good and productive morning for me!

    until...

    I checked my bank account!

I have £40.00 to last me until Thursday night, which is going to make getting to work impossible this week because my train ticket is £25.00 a day and I can't get a weekly because they are £101/week! We don't have an oyster pad at my originating station so I can't use that to touch in and touch out - so I'm not too sure what to do about getting to work this week! Anyone with a weekly ticket to loan me I'll be eternally grateful! :D

On the plus side, I've got enough food in the freezer and cupboards to last me the full week, including enough store bought bread/bread mix to make my own for the week for lunches. I had to unfortunatly buy a cheaper brand of cat food for the kitty this week (store brand :shhh: shhhh don't tell the cat) so no doubt he'll have a funny tummy for the rest of the week! Shame man!

My MIL is very very ill in hospital so the extra worry over the debt problem is wearing me out!
