NCP/ASDA £100 fine for outside line

I recently recieved a £100 fine for parking with my wheels slightly over the parking bay. The car park was half empty, but I pulled into a bay next to a wall which had an abandoned shopping basket there and a 4 x 4 had also encroached onto the next but one bay . So, as there were no regulations dispalyed where I paid for my ticket I did not know that I was commiting such a crime. Surely a friendly warning would have been more appropriate. Has anybody else received such an ridiculous fine?

Yes, and rule 1 is - DO NOT PAY!

It is an invoice not a fine. £100 would be considered excessive for a bit of bad parking, if it ever went to court.

A "Parking Charge Notice" was issued against my vehicle by Euro Car Parks.

After some web research, I found out some more about the company and thought better. They have sent me a few threatening letters.

Also,the invoice is for the Driver, not necessarily the Registered Keeper. There is no obligation to pass the invoice to the driver nor any law to force you to confirm who was driving.

don't asda give the money from these invoice to charity if you pay ,which i would not

I think they have said they would give the PROFITS to charity. Deduct the PPC's fees etc then I would expect this to be a relatively small amount.

I dont think it is enforceable but please dont park over the lines again. It is my pet hate in car parks (I am in and out of them all day) and often see cars completely straddling the white lines and taking 2 spaces, how selfish is that.

By the same token people should not put trollies in the bays of a supermarket, forcing cars over the white lines. Maybe we should clamp a few trollies for inconsiderate parking.:-)

Firstly, you've not committed a crime - this is purely a civil issue and advice on places such as www.pepipoo.com says do not respond to these cowboys as they can't (and won't) take you to court (though they will make empty threats which you could report for harrassment).

If you want to reply there is a letter I saw somewhere (sorry I can't find it at the moment) advising the cowboys that their alleged contract is with the driver and you would be happy to investigate who the driver at the time was, provided they pay you an admin fee of, say, £250

FORCING ? As I said i am in and out of supermatket car parks all day and if a trolley is in the way (they often are, and I agree they shouldnt be left there) I get out and move the trolley, it certainly doesnt force me to park over the lines...it is selfish

I always park straight in a bay regardless of how the car next me has parked. If they can't get back into their car, that's their lookout, not mine.
