I always park over two bays when I park at our local supermarket (also ASDA). When they put in realistic sized bays, or take responsibility for damage then perhaps they can tell me how to park - if they want my custom that is - I spend around £4k a year there. Anyway, the supermarket does not appear to be bothered, and theres always plenty of space so no-one is inconweniced by my "selfish" actions. Never had a ticket in 10 or so years of parking there every fortnight.

I always park at the far side of the car park, and a few other people do the same thing.

Having the extra room on both sides means we can get the kids out easily without risking damage to anyone elses vehicle. I don't use the parent/child spaces as I cannot be bothered to drive around the car park getting to them, waiting for several people to take 15 attempts to park in a bay on the way, only to find they are full. And coming out, I do not have to drive over two dozen speed bumps that are guarenteed to spill my shopping all over the boot.

If I park properly in a space at the far end of the supermarket car park, someone always seems to park right next to me (in case they think their car gets lonely?) despite our two cars being just about the only ones on that row. Parking in two spaces stops that!

That's when you come back and find a mini sandwiched mostly in the 1/2 space you left :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

That happened to me this week. I was parked about as far away from the shop as was possible - out in the boonies - I was alone. When I came out there were still all the spaces, except for one that was parked right next to me.

Ah, it's not just me then? This phenomenon has baffled me for ages. I always try to park as far away from the store entrance as possible where there are no other cars parked. In spite of there being acres of space and dozens of empty bays, 90% of the time someone has parked right next to my car. If anyone has any theories as to why people do this I'd be obliged. Some sort of herding or pack instinct maybe from way back. Similar reasons maybe as to why those plantpots drive right up your a rse in a slow moving line of traffic or drive right up to a rear bumper, almost touching, and stop when stationary in a queue!?

Mind your language please, my plantpots are useful.;)
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
