Newbie who needs help please

OK I am losing it here - the phone calls are relentless - the letters threatening all sorts are thick and fast - hubby has been in touch with the companies to tell them what we are doing but still they carry on.
The budget sheet from National Debt has been wrong twice now - despite phoning and going through it one by one again!!!
Is there a standard template for a buget sheet that can be sent off to the companies we owe so that we can start a dmp of our own without involving anyone else? How do you work out the pro rota payments so we can show each company they are getting a fair share of monthly payment?
Anyway someone please help before I go bald with pulling my hair out........thankyou

Hi Deb,

How's it going? Have you managed to get things set up with Payplan or have you gone elsewhere.

Hopefully, the calls will ease once you've told them that your going on to a DMP.
Just tell them you are entering in to a DMP and give them your case number. Just keep telling them the same thing everytime they call. They'll soon get the message and will leave you alone for a while.

Try not to let things get to much and remember we are here if you need to have a rant.

We have decided to tackle it ourselves - I have done the budget sheet and its all printed out - I have the template letters all ready to fill in account numbers etc.....
Once I have printed them all out away in the post they will go - we have decided if after a few months the companies we owe to still will not accept we will go straight to Payplan and let them tackle it but in the mean time will continue to pay the agreed amount worked out on pro rota payments.
Thankyou for asking Terri - much appreciated - life is tough right now with other family problems etc.....but am keeping ok - wont let it all grind me down!!!!

Well all 13 companies have cashed their token payment cheques and only 2 have written to say they dont accept the payment offer - the rest are still sending notices of the 12 fee they keep charging for late payments etc.
So for the 2 that dont accept do I go onto the next letter ???? They are still charging the fees and interest until we agree to a payment.

Just had a call from JD Williams ( Fashion World catalogue )
Who then put me through to Kensington who told me that any letters sent by myself will not be accepted and any offer of payment will be turned down unless I go through a company such as themselves.
He also said that knowone will be able to do a DMP without using a company as payment offers will be turned down b'cos anyone could say they cannot pay and just write off to anyone with any old offer.......arggggggggggg

Anyone heard of Kensington before? Had dealings with them?
Should I go onto the next letter for the 2 that have said no we dont accept......or should I give it up as a bad job and contact a company to do it for me?

I think in the long run it will be less stress for you to go through Payplan or whoever .... they have set up thousands of DMPs and know all the tricks. It shows you are serious about sorting out your debts, and also means there is a sort of shield between you and the people you owe money to.

Companies are not allowed to threaten or harrass you - did you send the letter that says to only communicate in writing? Did you advise them that you have been unwell and are therefore a vulnerable person yet? There are templates for this on the forum.

I didnt send the harrassement letter as this company I owe has not rung me before - this was the first time. I havent sent a letter about being unwell etc but shall look for the templates.......there are 10 more companies to write back to me or my hubby - should I wait till then - what happens if the others accept my offers and its only a few that dont.....

Had 2 other companies accept the offers - the phone hasnt stopped from Sky Card and even a lady at the door from them to discuss my finances!!!! I told her where to go! I am getting legal advice from National Debt Line - she said she wasnt a debt collector but was here to discuss the payments.......still didnt let her in and said I would contact NDL for the advice thankyou!!!!

if you have the contact details for this mob, it would help if you could report them to the OFT.

Most credotor would rather deal with Payplan or CCCS or CAb (or even the client) than a fee-charging company.

Did you ever send those hareesment letters?

if so, you need to write and make a formal complaint and CC the OFT and Information Commisioner, as not taking your phone number off their records breaches the DPA.

if not, get the letters sent.
