while you're all jabbering away about tv's, i thought i might just jump in with a quick question. we had a 42 inch samsung lcd which was fab and i loved it. but oh no, it wasn't "big enough" for the other half. so he replaced it with a 52inch samsung lcd. which by the way is so big it ruins my livingroom.

Anyway, i seem to have gotten used to it now, but the picture for the first few months wasn't pleasant viewing. It's difficult to explain, but it just looked too "real". i know that doesn't explain it very well. the picture on screen was very coarse, or vivid. i sound like a mong, but i know what i mean!! anyone else had experience of this?
:p It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt

It more than likely has all the extra 'processing modes' switch on (They shouldnt be on), and it needs calibrating (brightness, sharpness etc need setting properly)

And your no mong. Your other half is for not having a clue what hes doing ;)

    Its not a 'switch'
    Its within the menus.

Without knowing the exact make and model im unsure what you have on there. But therell be things like 'contrast enhance' or 'noise reduction', things of that nature
    Switch off EVERYTHING you can

Donna thanks but i just dont like how it looks!!

have you seen one in a shop or just in a picture like in that link? they are smart enough. i agree the samsung looks smarter but its how they perform that really counts isnt it? you should also consider reliability. our lg looking smart didnt stop it breaking down.

If you REALLY want to get good advice - as well as plenty of conflicting comments, of course - http://www.avforums.co.uk

& I'm currently looking at the LG 6000 models. Not sure if there is a 37 or 32 in this range, but cosmetically they are super. Instead of having the screen set into a plastic surround, the front of the case is smooth - just one piece of glass. So it looks posh & stays a bit less dusty & easier to clean, although it might reflect more light!!

Well got it!! was convinced we were getting the 37" samsung and then when we got in the shop it looked awful and dh didnt like!, to be fair so did a lot think it was their shop (currys) though but the one we chose was the best out of the lot and the picture is so so clear, most people were looking at it and reviews are good so we made a rash decision and bought a 32" LG which is now on the wall and looks gorgeous! good size for our room, sound is fab picture is fab and that's all we wanted it for so i'm a happy bunny!
Cost £500 and could have got cheaper but by the time you add on postage and hanging around waiting for it i just can't be bothered tbh! the bracket was £47 from B&Q and had a chunky corner shelf made for £9 which looks lovely too!
Thanks for all your help with my constant questions x
