Quick paypal question
smashed
I posted yesterday about the nigerian scammer who won the auction, and the 0 feedback who came 2nd. See below
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=128387
Anyway, offered a 2nd chance to the 2nd seller, and this has now been paid for via paypal. Am I 100% certain to be safe to send on my Xbox 360? It says "completed" but also says "seller protection policy ineligible".
Many Thanks
Rob

Hi
Heres the seller protection policy
For a transaction to be eligible for protection under the Seller Protection Policy, the transaction must be marked as SPP eligible and sellers must:
Have a qualified Verified Business or Premier account
Deliver to the confirmed address on the Transaction Details page
Retain reasonable proof of postage that can be tracked online
Require signature receipt on items equal to, or more in value than £150.00 GBP

So if it says ineligible it means I have no comeback?
Surely if the transaction was "instant" I can take the funds out of paypal and be safe?
Never sold anything for so much so never really thought about it.Be nice0 -
I might be wrong but I think there is a chance your second buyer is probably a dodgy as your first one - he has only just registered and has zero feedback..........0

Hi Rob
You can take the funds out anytime you like .
Most paypal transactions go without a hitch ( i know theres a few which dont ).
imho i would Make sure i sent the xbox by a recordable means imho i would send it special del ,
upto 2kg by special del costs £ 6-95 and covers you upto £500
2-10KG is £19.00 same cover.
If you are sending it by SP take the extra insurance out its £3 but covers you upto £500.

That happened to ME! However it's all part of the Nigerian scam. If you go to the official PayPal page and login to your account I'm sure you will find that it isn't there.

Ive just checked and he only registered on the 26th and bid on 3 xboxs.
TBH i dont know what i would do ,what about selling it in the local paper or ad mag might be a lot safer.

I logged into paypal officially and the payment is there, saying completed.
The seller is from Essex. I have been speaking to him via email.
The item is going special delivery, and I have emailed and confirmed address also.
My only real worry is if there is a way that the paypal payment can be reversed, and that I wont be covered
Thanks for all your help so farBe nice0 -
I understand that he has only bid on 3 xboxes, but that could be genuine. That is why I put it up for sale on boxing day, because it is in short supply , so there are bound to be genuine new people who want an Xbox 360.
If he wanted to scam, I would have thought he would have ensured he won the item on all 3 ?Be nice0 -
Looked at the auction again - I don't think I'd send anything of such value to danmac262728 without further clarification.
Even with proof of delivery you could find yourself without your Xbox and without the money - what if the guy says he received the box but it was empty, or contained a brick? If he is determined, Paypal will allow him to do a chargeback and you will be snookered.
You are in a very tricky position now because you have the money sitting in your account. If I were you, I would email danmac262728 and ask a few questions. You should soon get a better feel for whether the guy is real or a scammer. If the latter, refund the money and contact the 3rd person on the list, they seem ok......or relist, as somebody suggested yesterday.
Good luck!0 -
