ICESAVE 2nd Email received but still can't activate process

Hi, I wonder if anyone has the same problem, I will of course try contacting ICESAVE tommorow but am a little confused, I recieved my 2nd email on the 11th, but have only been able to try logging in today.

I login to my icesave account (I have an ISA) and get the following standard message;

Application You may now apply to be paid compensation.
By completing this process you will be agreeing to the following:
  1. that your details, including your selected nominated account, remain correct and up to date;
  2. that you are entitled to be paid compensation in respect of your Icesave account balance(s) and that you are able to give valid receipt for payment;
  3. that, to the best of your knowledge, your Icesave account balance(s) including interest up to and including 7 October 2008 is (are) correct;
  4. that the full payment to you of your Icesave account balance(s) under this process including interest up to and including 7 October 2008 is in full and final discharge and settlement of the obligations of FSCS to fulfil your entitlement (if any) to compensation from FSCS in respect of your deposit(s) with Icesave;
  5. that if you hold a fixed-rate savings account which pays interest on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis, and you decide to hold that account until maturity, you will not be paid any amount (including for any interest) prior to maturity in respect of that account;
  6. that you consent to FSCS, HM Treasury and the Financial Services Authority processing, receiving and requesting any information and documents that may be needed in connection with your claim for compensation, or in the carrying out of their functions, and to the release and/or disclosure of such information and documents to any other person in connection with the payment of compensation or in the carrying out of such functions or as otherwise required by law; and
  7. that all such rights, claims and entitlements as you may have against Landsbanki Islands hf ("Landsbanki") and third parties will be assigned and transferred to FSCS.
Thank you

By clicking "continue" you confirm that you have read and understood these terms and that you accept and agree to be bound by them.

I then click continue and get nothing, my account summary page, but clicking on "View Accounts" does nothing, there is a hidden button on my screen, that when running mouse over has the change email function, but nothing about continuing with the process :(

Any one have this to ?

THANKS IN ADVANCE

  • There should be an initiate button beside the view accounts button which you should be able to press. This might sound like an off the wall question, but what internet browser are you using? It might explain a button failing to show up.

    Are you using something like 'NoScript' in Firefox, which prevents scripts running on web pages and can produce the type of effects that you are experiencing?
  • Thanks for your responses, sorry that was me being silly about a missing button, the change email link text is visable, its just the link goes all the way across the page if that makes sense, so you get the mouse turn to a hand and look like there is a hidden link, but infact i was being daft as writing is there... i guess clutching at straws, hoping the "initiate button" was also hidden.

    As for browser i run a standard internet explorer with no scripting switched off, as the javascript shows up ok when you go over the links and the change account details button does work and give me the options, its just the view accounts option, is like it does a page refresh and nothing ....

    Down the bottom right, not the navigation buttons on the left, you will see two sections. The first will say "Account Statement" and the right of the this it says "FSCS claim" or "Initiate FSCS claim" - something like that.

    Click on this link and it will take you to the next page where you can begin the claim.
  • Thanks Jem, but i honestly don't have anything else on my page, will call their helpline in the morning and see what they say, hope no one else gets this as its very dissappointing.

    At the top of the page it has "Account Summary" with when you last visited, email address and a link to change email address.

    Underneath that it has "Your Accounts" with a table with 5 columns. The last column says "FSCS Claims". That's the link you need to click. Can you not see this section?

    You could try downloading Firefox and use that.
  • I assume your using XP or Vista? If you run internet explorer with no add-ons, i.e. go to start, all programs, accessories, system tools, internet explorer with no add-ons. (For XP, I don't know if thats the same for Vista)

    I don't think ringing them is going to do any good because it sounds like the problem is on your end. Everyone can see the initiate button, even if they can't claim, so it sounds like your browser has settings that have been changed, and that's why you can't see the button.

    I've had a couple of quirky things happen on IE8 beta, mainly with clickable image buttons not being visible. On page load, I have sometimes held the tab key down to scroll through each object - when it hits any missing objects, they become displayed.

    However, I too have tended to use Firefox on Icesave, so it might be worth installing a copy of that - especially if it's going to solve the problem and help you retrieve your money! ;)

    Yea IE8 uses a different code to IE7 so webpages that aren't compatible won't be displayed correctly. I don't know what this user is using though....

  • Thanks again for your kind replies but it isn't my browser, it has to have something to do with my account setup on icesave so i will call them and report back.

    I just run windows XP and IE7, I have installed firefox as suggested and I have exactly the same thing, my account summary, saying when i last logged in, my email address, link to change email, then on the left hand side, the 2 options to manage my account, view accounts (Which does nothing) change details which works and below the useful links option.

    I have no other buttons or links, apart from the standard bottom of page, T&C and FAQs

    Jem, i defiantely dont have anything that says FSCS Claims, but do apprecaite you trying to help me.
