Have just clicked to yet another never known site - thankyou n2l8(and well done with your sig!)
.....it's the sort of site I put on desktop as a shortcut, but it gives me a genteel finger wagging no-no, telling me I can buy the pic etc.etc. I've moused all over the page and can't bring up my usual 'create a shortcut' wording.
    Any clues please?
p.s. - I'm v.old atm, and officially pensioner rather soon.

  • I am sad about Speedferries too. I had most of my trips on my Superticket left and have contacted my credit card company to get things on the move.
Luckily as soon as I heard about the problems I booked myself on a P and O ferry for our Christmas crossing (already booked with Speedferries) at not much more cost than normal.
However, seeing as we have used Speedferries since they started about 6 times per year we are going to have to rethink our travel arrangements.
We have a house in the Calvados region and although Caen is very near us for Brittany ferries we find the crossing so boring and normally expensive for a short trip. Didnt really like LD Lines, so will probably have to go back to the Calais operators, and see what deals they might offer.
Oh well - it was nice while it lasted.

Also note now that Ocean Village Cruises which we have been on in the past are ceasing to operate (moving boats to Australia) from next year. Another good value operator going!!
  • For anyone who is interested please PM me for a spreadsheet (in Excel or Acrobat format - please specify) showing comparisons between season ticket costs and high and low single journey costs comparing SeaFrance, P & O, EuroTunnel and NorfolkLine. Compiling it certainly helped clear my mind and might be of help to others.

I had the same problem, can only suggest that you put it in your browsers favourites list.

  • Trouble is, that they state that supplements will apply for high season so you dont know what you will be paying, whereas with Speedferries you didnt have to pay extra.
I have used them in the past but found the port a bit out of the way which adds extra time, but the boat itself was very nice.

    Absolutely relpet.
I find only bonkers prices for little car plus little trailer - all around or well past £200, way beyond my budget.
Hi Ampersand, a glimmer of hope.
If you paid speedferries by credit card, then not only is the credit card Co liable (under section 75 CCA) to refund your money because of breach of contract, but they may also be liable for any additional costs that arise from that breach. This extends not only to monetary lose but also to a situation where the alternative is inferior to that which you originally contracted for.

Precident (Sp?) for this is the collapse of Maxjet last year. They were a business class only airline and Credit Card Cos paid out the difference for fares booked via (say) Virgin Atlantic , or the whole fare where folk flew economy class instead

    Hello in2lit -
I've not heard of maxjet, but yes, the parallel is there.
Have pretty much decided on another £25 convert of Mr T vouchers>Eurotunnel atm - no option really.
No doubt we'll all comment on our alternatives as experience accrues.

Hoorah! I applied to my credit card co. for refund of the 9-trip balance of the 10-trip voucher I'd boiught.

I was unsure how they'd view it, as people had queried whether they'd try to get out of it by saying each trip was under the £100 minimum so not covered.

However, yesterday I spotted an 'adjustment ' credited to my account for £207 (£230 - 1 trip @ £23) so thought I'd let people know that it can be successful.
