Excellent freebie - can I just reiterate about only applying if you are diabetic and can get the strips on prescription - the strips can be bought but are VERY expensive so applying for a machine if you are not in real need is pointless and means genuine people may not get one. Well done to Bayer for offering the machines free. If anyone does not get one - hospitals often get bulk supplies given free by manufacturers so it's worthwhile asking at an annual review.
For any diabetics not used to these models - I'm a district nurse and use the contour to test patents I go to - it's very quick and only uses a small amount of blood. It also has a very clear screen so is good for older/partially sighted people to read. The Breeze is very useful if you need to test while at work etc.0 -

The SensoCard Plus Talking meter is good for those who are partially sighted/blind and it is free to those who are visually impaired. http://www.sensocardplus.com/0 -

It's not that small a blood size. The freestyles are better as they only require a 0.3mg size. If you need a meter just phone the company and they will give you one at any time. Contour is useful if you have a paradigm pump as they can calibrate and send information directly to it, but otherwise I would heartlily recommend the freedom freestyle lite from Abbott.0
