Latest offering from our friends at the FSCS:

    Icesave: progress update (19 November)

We have now sent all customers their first email outlining the online process for making a claim on FSCS.

Over 75,000 second emails inviting people to log on to make their claim have also been sent. At the point of sending the second email we open up the accounts for processing. If you have not been sent your second email, you can still log on to the Icesave system but if you attempt to initiate the process you will be asked to come back later.

If you have received your second email and have processed your claim, we are glad we could help you.

If you have received your second email and have not yet processed your claim, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible. The process is simple and only takes minutes to complete.

If you have not yet received your second email, there is no need to worry. We are sending out the second emails in batches, including at weekends, to ensure the smooth running of the process, and remain on track to send out the vast majority in November.

For customers who did not receive our first email as part of our initial mailing, we have some new advice.

Please continue to check our website for updates.

First name starts with A, Surname with C, County with C, and we have not even received our 1st e-mail yet, we are with Pipex and have phoned + e-mailed numerous times and have even tried changing our e-mail address.....
STILL NOTHING, endless times phoning FSCS has got us nowhere except to run up a huge phone bill.....

Oh, too bad! Pinot Grigio here, but unfortunately not hitting the spot today. Perhaps I'll allow myself a Whisky Mac just after 7.

Perchance the FSCS would care to be a bit more precise, e.g. how big are those "batches"? how "vast" is the majority they are talking about? how large is teh implied "minority" going to be who won't get their money by the end of the month?

But if they were that concrete with their figures we could actually hold them to it if they mess up. Accountability? Nah, can't have that.

Btw, I think this is the same reason why they revised their posting earlier this week, changing it from "10 000 mails sent out" to "x amount of money paid out". This way it's more difficult to figure out for the public by how many mails they are still behind and whether they can actually keep to their announced deadline.

    Grrr...

    And again:

    Christian begins with A
    Surname begins with R
    Account no, with S
    Post code with E

  • I think they forgot to put the stamps on the ones they "sent out today" if they did send any

It's a bit like the "cheque's in the post" excuse - oh yeh!!

Still find it strange that no one has reported getting one today
