Lovely day here. just back from some cycling (incidentally wrap up warm Nilrem if you are out cycling tomorrow). Disappointed to see no reported second emails.
The FSCS announcement on 17/11 said they had paid out 0.5 billion. You might remember that for about 10 minutes there was another update on 17/11 that said that 50,000 had been offered compensation but this was taken down.
Looks like this 50,000 figure was correct (i.e 50,000 emails = 0.5 billion compensation is same as 100,000 emails and 1 billion compensation).
The original 10,000 batch was obviously referring to the emails sent out in the first couple of days although the 16/11/08 press release was very misleading.
Misleading has become an art form with this lot.
What I think we are saying then is that 50,000 got emails in the first week (including week-end) and compensation was 0.5 billion and a similar number
got 0.5 billion in the second week (up to Friday 21st). So what happened to stepping up the numbers ?
Unless something radically different happens this coming week the phasing the FSCS are talking about then is 50,000/week over 4 weeks and the so-called vast majority is 75%.0 -

I'm convinced logging on to the Icesave site and pressing Initiate puts you back to the end of the queue. I'm doing it regularly now. I too cannot envisage ever getting the 2nd email and am sure I will be ringing the FSCS on Dec 4th. Over £500 in lost interest now since default and I'm getting more and more rattled each day.0

Yup! Was snowing here earlier with more forecast for tomorrow! :snow_grin“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Couldn't agree more with the above posts criticising the FSCS' lack of transparency. What I find particularly noteworthy is the fact that a more concrete announcement was recently made and then hastily withdrawn. If nothing else, this is disastrously poor information management - quite apart from arousing people's suspicions.
Finally, as a social scientist I can only laugh at their claim of random allocation. Random sampling (e.g. for the alleged "test group" they mailed in the first week) is actually rather difficult.
By now though all I want is that email. For all of us!0 -
Hi folks, back from my gambling fix. It's been an up and down day, but it was National Hunt jump racing, so that was to be expected. My last bet was on Duff (had to back that after McDuff in the Scottish play)which won at 5-1. Made just over £40 (which is unusual as I usually lose) which I'm reinvesting in Ruth at odds of 7/4 being voted out of X Factor tonight. I'm guessing it will be her and Rachel in the sing off, and that the judges will keep Rachel in.In memory of Chris Hyde #8670

My wife and I are both still waiting although we have different e-mail addresses which if the process was totally random the chances of this would be, as you point out, slim. Likewise my wife is totally unconcerned about the whole thing although I'm tempted to put this down to the "where ignorance is bliss" factor.
There are THREE of us here, all with different e mail addresses, all still waiting for our second e mails.0
