Hold the Tesco run I have it on good authority the FSCS have run out of money and are now issuing compensation in the form of Iceland vouchers. If you have an ISA you keep the tax free status as an adjustment will be made for any VAT you pay on items sold by Iceland :D

Morning all, had a fairly troubled night - damn those sheep!

FSCS emails are easier to count there's far fewer of them and they don't move. :D

  • 1) The Ft writes "The FSCS has so far sent out 75,000 e-mails inviting Icesave customers to log on to the website and transfer their money to a nominated account. "

We know by now that Icesavers with multiple accounts had separate emails for each account. That means the FSCS still have to send out 125 000 or so mails within the span of the next ten days. In other words, they are not even half-way there yet. Is it just me or does that seem to contradict their website announcement that they are allegedly "well on track".

The FSCS website now states they had sent out over 100,000 emails by the end of yesterday (21 November), the statement quoted by the FT was from 19 November.

That suggests they sent out 25,000 emails in 2 days, which at a rate of 12.5k per day would result in them sending out the remaining 125k in... 10 days.

Morning all ... and what a lovely morning it is! I'm glad everyone has recovered from last night's sorrows (I was very sad to read of some people's harrowing experiences).

Just to let you know, as if you didn't know already ... still nothing here. It's actually getting unnervingly close to crunch time (for making deposits into an account that doesn't offer a derisory 3-4%) and if we don't get the email over the weekend/monday/tuesday then we will have missed the boat entirely.

Personally, I have already decided how I am going to recoup the further lost interest (from not being paid out at the beginning or indeed the middle of this 'phased payout') ... by submitting some seriously inventive tax information next year! Simple!

Oh, if anyone has some spare cash (!), there is a 30% off GAP voucher available to print off.

If any one knows of any others good discounts, perhaps not mentioned already on MSE, please let us know - I think we may need them!
