I just saw some chocolate poker chips online so have decided to do a little Poker Pot for my brother instead of a pot of gold as he loves online poker. Will probably just have some gold sweets, the choc poker chips and a scratchard in but is a bit more suited to his interests! ...

    lurker here!
I'm going to pinch your idea of a poker pot for my son-il, thanks!
I also found some chocolate kennedy half-dollars for my JFK-mad dd. I'm sending these to Oz but in a separate parcel from the other gifts in case they don't make it through customs. Can't send actual scratch cards/lotto tickets obviously so will put a note in each pot; I'll get scratch cards and lotto tickets and check them on their behalf on christmas day! I suppose i could scan and email the pics :D
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

  • Just had to pop and say thank you for such a fab idea and inspring me!! Have been trying to think of some simple cost effective christmas table presents and the pots of gold are perfect!!!!!
I've just been out and bought some simple plain glasses - 4 for 80p (love Wilko's value range). Also found some bargain gold shredded paper before heading off to Tesco's for the choc coins. I also found that there were selling Cadbury's wishes (in a little gold packet) and that some of the money from them goes to the make a wish foundation.
Now I cant wait for the christmas lottery cards to add to them!!
    Many thanks again
:j Bought all my presents for this year (birthday and Christmas) now starting on next years!!:j
  • What do most people use for their pots of gold. I was wondering about spraying some plant pots gold. Not sure what everyone else uses but love the idea and want to put on the table at xmas instead of little pressies which i normally do.:D

Went into my local Tesco today and NO coins yet - only a few Christmas items on the shelves so far - They did however have, Christmas Wishes a chocolate star I think? They were 59p or 2 for £1 and they were in gold wrapping.

I bought 12 glasses for £6 from IKEA and I intend to fill them with gold coins, a Christmas wish chocolate, lottery scratch card, and 2 Sanctuary mini's a body wash and body lotion, hopefully get them 3 for 2 nearer Christmas. Grand total per Pot of Gold should be around £6.
I intend to give these to the girls I work directly with at work :) and 1 for my secret santa.
  • Ooh, just read through this thread and definately going to make some of these this year. Our Tesco now has all the Christmas sweets in so will start stocking up on gold coins and the like. Pictures to follow in due course :D
It's easier to get forgiveness than to ask permission ;)
