Why not just buy the car to keep the seller happy and make it less complicated for yourself for now, and then sell it privately? I've never owned a car so I don't really know what I'm talking about, but I would have thought you'd get most of what you paid for it if you sold it on as a never used car. Just a thought.

Correct. The vehicle, no longer being brand new, will be worth, quite possibly, thousands less than before, particularly in a private sale. The only possible exception is if it is a model for which there is a long waiting list (not too likely in the current climate).

    OP - that's you, Chizzy,

You need to answer a few questions to keep the advice you recieve relevant.

*Was this car in his yard when you decided to buy it? Or was it ordered in for you?

*Do you now have the car in your possession?
*Did you sign to take possession of the car when it was delivered to you?
*How long has it been in your possession?

    * Have you got a V5 in your name or is it being processed by DVLA?

*What was your chosen method of payment for the car after the £500 deposit, i.e. how were you going to pay the balance? How much (if any) of this balance have you paid so far?

*If the car is still with the retailer, Have you arranged insurance through them or given them an insurance cover note that would enable them to register the car in your name?
