Am I going to have to buy the car? Urgent help please
I Purchased a car from Audi and paid a £500 deposit...
The car has now been delivered and registered to me.
However, I'm the mean time I have been diagnosed with a medical condition which means i'm going to have my licsence witheld. Obviously, I really don't want to go through with the purchase and have a nice car I can't use
Where do I stand? The dealer says I have to buy the car (I guess he would do). Can he unregister the car?
My order says the following in the T&Cs:
If the purchaser shall fail to take and pay for the goods within 14 days of the notification that the goods have been completed for delivery, the seller shall be at liberty to treat the contract as repudiated by the purchaser and there upon the deposit shall be forefited without predjudice to the seller's right to recover from the purchaser by way of damages any loss or expense which the seller may suffer or incur by reason of the purchaser's default.
Does this mean I just loose the deposit? or do I have to pay the dealer further compensation?

Is it a new car? or used?0

You could ask the dealer to take it back but in the T&C above, they can recover all losses. On a new car that's been registered, that can end up being £1000's due to the fact it's no longer new but used so there's the "driven it out of the showroom" depreciation.0

Oh dear!
Was it built to order for you?
1st check that the car has been registered with the DVLA in your name already, I don't think they will be able to undo the registration (only re register it in another name adding another owner number).
The problem is that the car is worth alot less now, the dealer will want compensation for the difference in price you were going to pay and what it is worth as a (very) nearly new car!
How long are you likley to be grounded?0 -
i know its harsh to say, but its not the dealers fault you are unwell0

I'm not sure as yet how long I won't be able to drive, depends on how I respond to medication etc etc..
It's not looking good then, I guess i'll lose out either way.0 -
It is possible to unregister a vehicle but its not a simple or easy process. However i think its only for things like the vehicle was wrongly registered. I dont think you would be able to unregister it simply because you no longer need it.on.0

yes they can unregister a new car but only if there is something wrong with the original registration,i doubt ill health from the purchaser would be reason the unregister it.
it takes a good few weeks for it all to be done and can be a real pain to do,so the dealer wont want to help you with this....work permit granted!0 -
did you pay the deposit on a credit card? if so contact your bank and see if they can help you out with it.
The dealer won't take legal action cos he will lose on discrimination, he won't risk his brand/reputation0 -
