did you pay the deposit on a credit card? if so contact your bank and see if they can help you out with it.

The dealer won't take legal action cos he will lose on discrimination, he won't risk his brand/reputation

Where'd you drag that sack of crap out from?
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
  • It would be highly unusual for a dealer to have registered the car to you BEFORE getting your full payment as that is quite a risk for the dealer (for exactly the reason that the buyer might pull out at the last minute before making final payment).

Ask if it has actually been registered (they'd have needed your insurance cert' to do that OR have asked you to arrange driveaway insurance with their own partner...so have they done that?)

If it is a stock vehicle they had on site, then it would be 'nice of them' to let you have your money back if you've had genuine misfortune, but if the car was ordered specifically for you (or they have incurred cost by buying it from another Audi dealer to fulfil your order) then they would probably withold your deposit. You will have left with a car they've ahd to pay wholesale price for and now with no customer for it.

Always bear in mind..the point of a deposit is that it is not refunadble..it is there to protect the seller against cancellation costs as much as it is there to secure you the car you want...you are making a commitment.

In this current climate I suspect the dealer will push for everything he is entitled to under the law. You just need to ascertain where you stand legally.

However from your original post I'm not sure if you have spoken to the dealer yet, I suggest you do that asap the longer it is sitting around then the more it could cost you.

As for that paragraph from the T&C's that says you have to pay compensation.

As for shazkahn ideas I wonder what he expects the bank to do?

Why not just buy the car to keep the seller happy and make it less complicated for yourself for now, and then sell it privately? I've never owned a car so I don't really know what I'm talking about, but I would have thought you'd get most of what you paid for it if you sold it on as a never used car. Just a thought.

I have a very strong feeling I know but I know that if I posted what I thought, I'd be accused of being a member of the BNP.

Might have something to do with what appears to be the surname of the poster. Can't get a bigger hint than that.

    Khan?

No still dont get it. Is saying the surname of a likely Paskistani or Indian now a sure fire way of determining a persons political views?

Never seen the police camera action type programmes on TV where they pull over an Asian guy and he puts on the whole 'you're being racist' ploy?!

And i guess the police just bend over and admit they were?

I am guessing the Conor was thinking something along the lines of "Pakistanis are dodgy"

My opinion is that everyone is dodgy when it comes to cars be them, black, white, yellow, green or whatever.
