Not really my place to say.. I know longer attend that church as I've moved out of the area... Also I completely agree with what they did at the time based on the information they had (Or should I say didn't have) and they did need access to their funds as the church is basically falling down around them and they need the money to maintain the building..
(Don't get me started on that either... as there seems to be no issues with their Minister putting their money in the PMS to "Speculate" on the property market but the same minister won't take Heritage Lottery Money to rebuild/maintain a listed curch!!!   ) (Double Standards????)0 -

Thank you for deliberately misquoting me. I said:
"The Presbyterian Herald" (or, more correctly, Rev. Alan Russell writing in the Herald) "makes it very clear that no congregations withdrew their money".
At no time did *I* say that no congregations withdrew their money.
Now, would you like to apologise for your misquote?0 -

We are in North West and would like to set up some sort of communication forum with other people in same situation in North West. We have money in PMS which we need to pay a builder for our new house!! We hear of names but we do not like to approach. I think that the time for the stiff upper lip and pride is nearing its end - we're all in it together.
When we receive letter I think that we should not make it easy for the church to get away lightly. They should be bombarded with questions, made to be open and frank about the full wheelings and dealings.
We (public) have been professional, waited until we got the full facts (that is, if we have) and then challenged the information. If we take that angle, we will behave in a dignified manner. We need a few heads that know about these things legally to come on board and help to advise.0 -
Just a bit of a straw poll,, but would this fiasco make any of you think about changing church?? i.e Free P, C.O.I,Methodist or RC for that matter??0

i said you stated it..............did you not state it ???? who logged in as you and typed it then ?
I didn't say it was your own thoughts, simply that you said it.
And read what I wrote.
I did NOT say it. I said that the Presbyterian Herald said it. There's a difference, and if you can't see that, then you have a problem.0 -

What about administrators' fees if the PMS were to keep going for a few years? Who pays it? Should Pres Church not be carrying this tab as a gesture?
Hardship fund of £1,000. Where's this money coming from? If £1,000 goes to each investor then that's £9,500. That's not enough.
As lenders to the Society through Loan Certificates, do we have the same rights as those who have borrowed from the society and whom the administrator is chasing to get to pay back or arrange terms. What's the difference? Our money was good enough to lend to other people so surely we are entitled to our complete loans back. Would welcome comments on this.
Yes, it's a depressing time to call onself a Presbyterian!0 -

That all sounds fine - at the end of the day we need to do something now!
Our names won't really matter now.

Its time to set this petition up - get PCI to answer some questions, also the PMS and get some help.
Did we really need to wait 2 months to hear what we all knew?
Pay Administrators, staff etc.0
