I can get in contact with plenty of people either directly or via someone else.0

For those who are about to hear that they have lost their money/savings/investment - call it what you like - will only be too delighted to sign a petition.
I will get as many names as well.
Interesting to read re the PCI in Newsletter today re Hardship Fund - they are ducking and diving!!! PMS know nothing about this, our Church Ministers know nothing of it - so why are they saying this or is this being reported?
When you telephone PMS - they say they know nothing of the PCI Hardship Fund - in fact - when you phone the PMS - they know nothing about anything!!!! How frustrating to think these people were dealing with millions or our pounds!!!!
Please get the petition sorted soon so we can, as a group, do something constructive.
Thanks0 -
Guys, I think you'll have to rethink this as I highly doubt due to Customer Confidentiality that they will be allowed to give names or any other investor details...
I guess you could use a petition to push for more information regarding how the PMS was run or to push for the Assembly to assist with gauranteeing deposits but I really don't think it'll work for naming & shaming!!0 -
I was thinking about setting up a P.O. Box so that people could contact me through that. We are in North West and people up here might want to rally support for make their views felt. I am in the process of making enquiries so maybe somebody up Belfast way could do the same??
A name and shame campaign will not work. Yes, they will not be allowed to give names because of Client Confidentiality. Anyway, what's the point - let's concentrate our efforts on moving forward and making our voices felt.
Best thing we can do is get as many people starting to register their stories, their feelings, their support for lobbying all the agencies and people we need to. Need few months will need determination, dedication and commitment.
I think that if anyone knows any of the 'former' PMS directors, let's start to get some of them on side. I don't think that they can all be tarred with the same cynical brush. We have a lot of work to do so let's join forces and move forward.0 -
The governmet were quick to act when the banks needed Bailed out..
They were quick to give people extra Fuel allowance when actually Oil isn't that expensive any more..
Surely a gaurantee on Peoples funds in the PMS would not be that expensive for them in this case... If they were Gauranteed then maybe people would be happy to leave their money there and besides it's not like they don't have the assets... Governent could just take the assets and sell of at a later date when they rise in value(So NOT wasting tax payers money) Like they're doing with the Bank Shares (But probably not a risky!!)
Maybe thats what the petition should be drafted for?? Gaurantee Of People savings..0 -
I phoned PMS around 5pm today. The girl I spoke to said that the report from the Administrator and voting forms won't be posted out until tomorrow because they weren't back from the printers in time to be sent out today.
When I asked if she could tell me what proposals the Administrator had made, she said although she'd only briefly seen the report, it was a bit complicated and suggested I wait until I see a copy and then get back in touch if there was anything I didn't understand !!
When I asked if she knew if there were any plans for public meetings for those affected to attend she only said that it would be a bit hard to find a venue for (potentially) 10,000 people - no mention of any one else handling such an event.
I also asked if there would be copies of the report available at the PMS office in Belfast. She said she hoped so, so that they (the PMS staff I assume) could have a chance to see it.0 -
Thanks Joy likes to shop for this info. It is probably only to be expected though. We are being prepared for the worst through the press so that when the information arrives we are getting what we expect and we have had time to come to terms with it so it doesn't seem so shocking??
Usual stuff..
Yes, interesting about the meeting though Joy. What about the Odyssey but I suppose that would have to be paid for from PMS and guess what!! our funds?
Meetings should organised at congregational level by a congregational PMS rep, then full presbytery meeting with all PMS members and church reps joining forces, then all church reps through all congregations should meet, plan an attack and all book a meeting with admin, PMS and Presbyterian Church putting a structured point of view across and expecting concrete, not wishy washy answers. This is how I see it as I think a verbal attack will not be taken seriously.
Any other supporting ideas?0 -
I spoke to a few people in the media recently asking their views on petitions etc. A comment that was made was to petition the Prime Minister directly using an online petition. I've just had a quick look at the site, and it looks like there is one up and running already, petitioning the Prime Minister to provide similar governmental guarantees to UK mutual societies as for banks !!! Maybe we should all add our names to this.I was told (but I'm not sure what truth there is in it) that if 50 or 100 names are on a petition that the Prime Minister (?) has a duty to 'do something about it'.....I'll keep researching this !!!
http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/Save-the-Mutuals/
I've just spotted the following which is a petition on the same site which was 'rejected' because 'it was outside the remit or powers of the Prime Minister and Government'......
Additional information about this rejection:
This is a devolved matter and should be directed to the Northern Ireland Executive as appropriate.

wonder what happened to the interest payments due on 1st December, after the PMS went into administration
Call me a cynic but Adminstrators are very very expensive and will be getting paid first and ongoing!0 -
Groovy-jon - Goodbyepci -
Please groovyjon get on with the online petition - I suggest you use the wording from a previous post of GOODBYPCI - ie to the PCI
Also if we can mention Government as well - re security - our hard earned cash.
Whatnow?
I agree with all you are doing - and understand that many Presbyterians have been tight lipped until now. This has been a serious mistake.
There has been a group of us that have been posting since beginning November and have tried to get a Petition up and running. Perhaps we lack the confidence.
We need to get going - come on we are in this together.
Whats the point in waiting for the letter - its not going to be good reading.
Have you ever wondered why the PMS AND PCI haven't got us together? Well its because, agreeably it would be expensive but also they don't want to confront us!!!!!! Seems as if mistakes have been made and people are not too sure what to do! So like all good boys and girls deal with this and move on!!0
