The governmet were quick to act when the banks needed Bailed out..
They were quick to give people extra Fuel allowance when actually Oil isn't that expensive any more..
Surely a gaurantee on Peoples funds in the PMS would not be that expensive for them in this case... If they were Gauranteed then maybe people would be happy to leave their money there and besides it's not like they don't have the assets... Governent could just take the assets and sell of at a later date when they rise in value(So NOT wasting tax payers money) Like they're doing with the Bank Shares (But probably not a risky!!)

Maybe thats what the petition should be drafted for?? Gaurantee Of People savings..

Regrettably, unlike the North East of England (think Northeren Rock), N.Ireland isn't populated with large numbers of Labour voters. I suggest presure is applied to locally elected officials. Despite being a 'son of the manse' Gordon Brown would appear not to be a friend unless there are votes in it or he is seen to be 'saving the world.'
  • This seems to be drifting more in the direction of putting pressure on the government but presssure needs to be kept up on PCI/PMS as it was their total incompetence that caused this in the first place. Why should the taxpayer (i.e. you & me) be forced to bail out the PCI whilst thay sit on a considerable fortune and claim that all of this has nothing to do with them?

I agree - PCI AND STORMONT

Seems as if Downing Street aren't interested -

Could someone make some suggestions re online petition - to PCI AND STORMONT
  • I think that we should hit Stormont where it hurts (Or at least threaten to!!) In the Ballot Box. Loads of pressure needs to be put on the politicains. I'm sure your local DUP MLA will not like the thought of you threatening to vote UUP or TUV or Vice-Versa for that matter as you think he/she's sitting on their hands and not fighting your corner.... LETTERS.. LETTERS.. LETTERS.. They won't ignore it if they are inundated with Letters....

Is there anything on the Stormont Website (If there is one) that allows Patitions to be set up like the Government website??

I really don't think the PCI can be blamed for the fiasco but they really haven't done themselves any favours by keeping such a distance from the matter.. they really should be doing more to help and giving much much more advise in this current vacuum. PMS have a lot of questions to answer... Goes to show.. when the !!!!!! hits the fan even within an organisation associated with a church... people will never hold their hands up and take responsibility for their actions....

This will damage the PCI as child abuse allegations have damaged the RC Church

i'd just like to thank all of you on this link/thread/forum for the only real insight to our situation. i'm extremely new to computers (1 finger typing) and as such feel out of my depth.
since 3.15pm 12th november, having phoned the pms and been told "don't worry. your money is 100% safe. it just might take a little more than 21 days to retrieve it." and being informed on the radio 45 mins later that my money was frozen, this forum has been the only information i have gained.
after such (at best) chicanery, or, to put it bluntly, lies i haven't been able to bring myself to visit or call the pms.
i also would be prepared to petition, but haven't a clue what i'm doing.
once again, thank you all so very, very much for your up to date information and debate!!
hope the post treats us well.

p.s. why is it not possible to find out directors' names? i thought that was standard for any above board business?

    thanks again and good luck.

Directors names are in the annual return which is available through the companies house site
    http://www.detini.gov.uk/cgi-bin/get_builder_page?amp;page=604&site=7

Within this site you need to go to online ordering, locate presbyterian mutual get a list of available documents and it's the annual return lodged 8/7/08. This costs £1 and is a large pdf which lists the directors and occupations etc.. Hope this helps.

According the MSE forum rules we are not allowed to post full names here.
But if you look inside your 2008 copy of the PMS Annual report and summary financial statement, which you would have received in the summer, there is a list of the PMS directors.
