    Folks,
I've just been talking to my parents about the letters that my mother received from the administrator (worth noting that Dad hasn't yet received anything - anybody else missing letters?) and my father read one to me. I'm not surprised he is a bit confused. The letter is full of "legalise" and has managed to confuse me. It appears to suggest that he needs to confiirm d my mother's savings by 19th April in order to participate in the distribution, but there also is a suggestion that they may not need to if they confirmed their savings by responding to a much earlier letter from the administrator.
I live in London and the administrator's office won't talk to me without my parents being there to give their authority, but will be visiting my parents from 15th April, so should have time to deal with anything in between my dad's hospital appointments, but would appreciate it if anybody on the forum who has contacted the administrator to confirm the necessity for any confirmation would let me know what the situation really is.
Feel free to send me a private message if you are concerned about revealing anything you feel may be personal/private on the forum.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mark

  • Dear sir/madam

The demise of the pres mutual society was made worse by the fact the current uk goverment bailed out the banks, hmg now owns 84 per cent stakes in some lending insitutions, all major n ireland banks were ringing up savers in this society and telling them that there savings were quaranteed no matter what and should be shifted over to them, this caused panic and mayhem,im not saying it caused the crash, but freinds we sure do have a very very different standards goverment including the thing called stormont which is 365 feet square but never has been any use to n ireland people,i know alot of people including customers who have lost ALOT of money my heart goes out to yous, ive learned recently there is more to life than money i genuinely hope that yous all get your money back,WE IN N IRELAND ARENT IMPORTANT TO THE UK GOVERMENT ANYMORE WE HAVE NOTHING TO GIVE THEM

    DONT GIVE UP
  • Help please! Having read the link in Joylikes2shop's post I am concerned about my aged Mum, who has money in the PMS, and is away from home until 16th April. She may not have seen/received the letter about sending proof of claim to the Administrator - she didn't mention it to me before going away. As the deadline is 19th April she will not have much time after she gets home to take in what she needs to do and is liable to panic. Could someone please tell me what proof she needs to provide? If I can let her know exactly what she needs to do it will help her enormously. Many thanks in advance.

    Sir Reg Empey's speech

    (Reference to PMS)

I spoke about this at our annual conference in October and quoted the words of the Prime Minister when he asserted that no saver in the UK had suffered as a result of the banking crisis.
I said then and I say now, ‘this is not the case Prime Minister.’
The savers in PMS have endured another year of fear and anxiety.
This was exaggerated by the results of a recent case when the Administrator, acting under the directions of the courts, sought guidance on how he should disburse some funds that have accumulated over the last 18 months.
Headlines saying that lenders were getting ‘12p in the pound’ added to peoples’ anxiety, coupled with the decision that the so called ‘shareholders’ that is those with less than £20,000 of savings, would get nothing.
I know that a lot of work is going on behind the scenes, but time is now short with another possible court case coming up.
It has to be said that the work that all political parties have done on this issue has been a positive example of where working together is getting results.
The united front of all parties and the unanimous support of the Executive is, I believe, about to pay off.
Despite the dark days that are behind the PMS savers, I have never been more confident that we are closer to a positive outcome now than at any time since this crisis began. I think we are entering a crucial week, where London and Stormont will be required to play their respective parts to resolve this crisis.

We await developments with a sense of optimism.

Depressing listening. On the one hand, some are holding out for a commercial solution, others for a government bail out. We are almost 18 months into administration and neither has happened.

Two of Silent Witness's clients were referred to. A charitable trust we all know as Howie Christian Charitable Trust and an individual who had placed compensation money in the PMS.

On the subject of Silent Witness; still no response on my pro bono question. The position as I understand it is that Silent Witness does pro bono work for himself. "For he's a jolly good fellow, for he's a jolly good fellow, for he's a jolly good fellow and so says Don ......"
