I've just received the Treasury Select Committee's report via email this morning.
Most of you may well have too, if you have been in contact with them about the PMS.
But if you haven't got the full report (all 60-something pages), send me a message and I'll happily forward it to you.

  • Quite the statements Lester F! With regard to your final comment I would be more careful in future when commenting on things you clearly do not know anything about. I know for a fact the 'lawyer friend' you mention has been working very hard to help sort the situation out and hasnt received a penny for it! Some of your comments could be taken as being defammatory - surely you should know this since you obviously have a VAST knowledge of how the law and justice works. ;):D

I was asleep in bed beside my beautiful wife when at a quarter past midnight Hatsarehere posted his thoughts.

My vision of Hatsarehere bears a striking resemblance to Mr. Potter as portrayed in Frank Capra's masterpiece. Was Hatsarehere sitting up late in his big empty house counting his money when he decided to join the on line discussion for the first time?

Your vision [like the majority of your comments] is well off the mark. :D
I only wish I had a big house and money to count!

If the highlight of your day is having visions about the people on this forum then sure thats great. :o :rotfl:

However, maybe you should think about what you're saying before you post.

    Lots of love Lester. :D
  • Surely all these CHRISTAN people know that money is the root of all evil? Peoples greed almost always comes first. Just look at some people today. Mps Footballers Bankers etc. Don't let the fact that some preacher letting on he knows jesus or god fool people into thinking they are really nice people. I feel sorry for the people who have lost there money especially people who put there life savings in but surely they knew how a PMS worked before putting there life savings in and the risks involved? For some people to want us the taxpayers to bail you out I hope that doesn't happen. You should of knew the risks before investing ;)

    Jim Allister's Statement

"Having long contended that DETI had failed the PMS savers by failing to ensure adequate regulation of mutual societies, I greatly welcome the clear criticism by John McFall's Treasury Committee of DETI's inactivity. Given DETI's knowledge and access to all the relevant information the fact that it failed to take any preventative action creates an element of culpability which it has yet to face up to.

"I trust that the government will now be big enough to face up to its failings and responsibilities and move forward expeditiously to bring resolution to PMS savers who have suffered so grievously. However, the initial angry and defensive response by Arlene Foster suggests the Department's pride is more important than getting justice for PMS savers. For her to describe the McFall Report as 'shoddy' reflects more on her than the Treasury Select Committee. 'Shoddy' might well be a good description of how DETI approached its responsibilities down the years towards mutuals."

I am no supporter of TUV but Jim Allister is right.
Arlene Foster, Peter Robinson and Sammy Wilson deserve all the criticism they got today.

I was horrified when Sammy Wilson was pushed on BBC Evening Extra this evening to say if he would support a proposal for the N I Assembly to help financially and he half heartedly replied that he would.
When he was asked if the Executive could legally give financial support........he did not know.

I would have thought that that possibility would have been explored and legal opinion sought before now.

Administrator is in court tomorrow morning. He has been told that he has to bring some proposal for creditor representation.
It may be he has to agree finally to a creditors' meeting to appoint a creditors' committee.
If he does I don't think that my proposed meeting would be as important.

I have tried to keep different lobby groups in touch with each other through PMS Savers' Coalition and could still call a meeting for shareholders and creditors.

After listening to Foster and Robinson yesterday, I was thinking "those two need to be given a good roasting". And, my goodness, Stephen Reilly (?) certainly did that this morning on Good Morning Ulster. Just a shame Foster wasn't on at the same time - she would barely have survived. :-)
