Thanks joylikes2shop
Just had a read at landsbankki site - the stories are heartbreaking - similar to the PMS stories
I'm nearly afraid to ask - why did they not get their money back????
Now not for the faint hearted!!! - if you click on (don't look at the top of the page) = --p in the pound!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -

I know.....I've dithered for ages about posting the links here because it's not easy reading, but it just felt appropriate now.
I've also actually emailed some of the people responsible for setting up the web sites to find out how easy/difficult they found getting the groups up and running.
I have found this thread (most of the time !!) to be an invaluable source of information, advice and support. With out it I know I would feel so isolated and frustrated with the lack of official PMS information available.
However,I would love it if 'we' could have a support website of our own.
The amount of information, email addresses and media links that are on here is amazing, but due to the nature of the thread, it's sometime like looking for a needle in a haystack trying to find certain info again.
I know this site is still attracting plenty of viewings, but it's impossible to tell how many are actual investors and their families. I would be interested to see how many people think the idea of a 'PMS support' website would be helpful.
Feel free to post on the forum, or PM me your thoughts.
I also have my very own hotmail address for people who're not registered on this site, but due to forum rules it cant be posted here... its not hard to guess.0 -

Not sure if anyone read this article in The Sunday Times. It is about the economic difficulties in Republic of Ireland. It mentions the promise of the Irish government to honour all banking investments. It then states that due to worries of default, British MPs are advising people to remove their money from Post Office savings as it is run by Bank of Ireland!0 -

It's more likely to have been their own banks which knew they had funds with the PMS."
Sorry 36 Square you have to the wrong end of the stick. The banks could NOT have called the PMS shareholders UNLESS there already was a business relationship. So everyone [allegedly] called by banks and urged to remove their money must have had a relationship with the bank concerned.
The reason why this could be a data protection act issue is because if the banks had not been given this information for the purposes of making such phonecalls then it is a misuse of personal data.
You can be assured that the ICO will not be able to get anyone's money back and any fine would be laughable, I'm sure.
But the advantage is that the ICO could bring all the FACTS about what the banks [allegedly] did out into the open.
Then just watch the politicians and PMS shareholders get to work on both them and Gordon Brown. It would be a feeding frenzy and it would all work in favour getting PMS deposits guaranteed IMHO.

If any encouragement to make a representation [or an actual representation/complaint] to the ICO turns out to be inappropriate or - as 36 Square classifies it [a red herring] - who better to determine the validity [or otherwise] of a complaint/representation than the Information Commissioner [rather than, with respect - 36 Square ]. Each complaint/representation will rise [or fall] on its own merits - as assessed by the Information Commisioner's Office - but a complaint/representation has to be made before any adjudication can be secured.
So go ahead and contact ICO on 01625545745.
Thank you.0 -
Hi T&B
We must have pressed the 'Post' at exactly the same time. Thanks for the support.0
