  • So, the News Letter is beginning to stand up the reports that banks were calling PMS investors and urging them to remove their money from the PMS;-

    http://www.newsletter.co.uk/news/Allegations-over-banks39-coldcalling.5118435.jp

And I see that Jeffrey Donaldson is willing to help people make complaints to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) about this, apparently on the basis that the banks may have been using personal data for purposes other than which it was gathered.

Could these waves of [alleged] cold calls have actually sparked the panic and run on the PMS and what responsibility would the banks have to help us if this were proven to be the case?

IDEA: If everyone who was cold called by a bank about their PMS funds lodged a complaint with the ICO, this body ACTUALLY HAS STATUTORY POWERS TO INVESTIGATE and make the banks reveal what they [allegedly] did;-

    http://www.newsletter.co.uk/news/Allegations-over-banks39-coldcalling.5118435.jp

And if the ICO could then confirm this was a real and widespread problem, the pressure would then be on the banks to provide real help to the PMS and by extension, all PMS investors who are currently in trouble.

    In conclusion, here is a very real way that PMS investors can help themselves, potentially;

SO, IF YOU WERE COLD CALLED BY A BANK ABOUT YOUR PMS MONEY [OR KNOW SOMEONE WHO WAS] FOR GOODNESS SAKE TALK TO JEFFREY DONALDSON AND/OR THE ICO AND LETS GET IT OUT IN THE OPEN AND OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED!

BOTH JD AND THE ICO WILL DEAL WITH YOUR STORY IN COMPLETE CONFIDENCE - THAT IS THEIR ROLE!!!

Here is a very real and ***VERY ANONYMOUS*** way in which you can force the banks to rectify the dirty work they [allegedly] carried out on all of us!

The Stormont Executive will doubtless make good use of such confirmed evidence that banks used their deposit guarantees to decimate the PMS funds. That is already their line, but it would be much stronger if they had hard evidence out in the open. Then Gordon Brown could not deny he was partially responsible, by announcing an augmented deposit guarantee after which the PMS 'coincidentally' suffered a run.

YOU, dear readers, can pressurise Brown........if you will make the evidence available!!!

Come on guys, stand up for yourselves

  • sorry, here are the powers of the ICO to investigate;-

I think this is the best suggestion I have seen on this thread. It really would put the cat among the pigeons if people can confirm that this is the case. It may only result in fines for the (almost government owned) banks, but it certainly would strengthen our case.

I am very impressed with the News Letter's coverage and can only hope it continues.

It may be a good idea to email the journalists involved to thank them personally?

They have done a lot to keep our situation highlighted.

Their email addresses are in the News Letter.

Toast and Butter has got in absolutely spot-on.

PLEASE - Any PMS depositor approached by ANY bank in ANY way please contact the Information Commissioner's Office on 01625545745.

This is a very real yet ANONYMOUS way of challenging the banks of their role in this collapse of PMS.
    Thank you.
  • Talk Back - Jim Allister MEP says he doesn't believe PMS was operating as a mutual society - he believes they operated as a bank - he stated the rules were broken as they should have been regulated by FSA in order to carry on business in the way they had been.
Mr Allister believes DETI should have been overseeing PMS business and making sure PMS was genuinely run as a mutual. He blames Governmental failure for PMS savers situation. Stated Government dept failed to recognise that PMS should have been regulated.
He has drawn PMS savers plight to the attention of the Treasury and Arlene Foster. He believes if questions asked were answered honestly, it may be of help to PMS savers.
