Virgin Vs Tiscali

  • I'm thinking about signing up for Virgin's broadband service, but their £14.99 service is slower than other ISPs, and they do have penalties for cancelling within the first 12 months, so whilst they don't have a 12 month minimum contract term, they do have a minimum contract term and it's well beyond one month.

I have been with Tiscali since September and I haven't encountered any problems yet. Yes sometimes it is a bit slow in the evenings. But since I'm not playing games or watching television via the net, I don't see it as a problem.
I only need it to browse the internet. Therefore it's the best solution for since it's one of the cheapest. No complains about the telephone service either. My bills state every phonenumber called and the time spent on that call. A service which BT didn't gave me...

BT will if you ask them to itemise all calls. Free.

And most people's issues with Tiscali are with the customer service when it does go wrong....like when they "upgrade" you.

  • Tiscali??? DONT do it!!!

I cancelled broadband service with them 7months ago and they recently sent me notification that my sevice had stopped followed 2 days later by a RED(I'm scared) bill for subscription monies owed.

They will be singing a long long time.

Might be interesting to see if they follow through and get as far as bailiffs......anyone know if bailiffs take a telly and a computer for sale at auction (say to pay £30 in rentals) whether you can then sue Tiscali for a new telly and computer?

IF anyone does take actoin, please remember tha you can counterclaim.

Most of the time, these people are bluffing, they will send you lots of threatening letters that mean nothing at all!

Ride it out, and see just what they intend to use in court.
