TomTom falls off windscreen - Help!

I've just got a tomtom one classic (Europe) and am pleased with its performance but, unfortunately, it keeps falling from the windscreen. The suction on the fairly basic holder just gives up after awhile.
Can anyone suggest a suitable (inexpensive) remedy?

clean your windscreen... and stick it on, with a reasonably firm push..
i drove, about 5 hours yesterday with my TT520T, and it didn't fall off the windscreen once...
it has on occasions, but a good clean of the windscreen seems to always do the trick...
cheaper than spending £20 too!

Have you cleaned the windscreen and the suction cup?
I tried using some Rain X Anti-fog once on the windscreen and I wiped some near the suction cup. After a day or two the Rain-X must have leached down towards the suction cup and it wouldn't stay on. After several wipes of glass cleaner it works fine now.
I have 4 sat-navs now and find that when you mount it on the windscreen it is best to apply firm even pressure around the cup with several fingers before pushing the lever down or pushing the cup in place. The man without a signature.0 -
We had the same problem with our Tom Tom when we first had it.
An assistant in a shop showed us that you need to press it firmly in the centre of the round suction bit when sticking it on.
Hey presto it's never fallen off since.0 -
Thanks for the suggestions.
I'll try the cleaning approach first before spending any dosh.
Viking, my TT doesn't have a vacuum lever, just a simple plastic suction cup.
A friend has the old (lever) type and that works very well.
The latest (entry level) TTs seem to be made to a minimum price and the mount seems inadequate for the purpose.
After posting I found this which suggests there will be a lot of unhappy users out there ... http://www.amazon.co.uk/review/product/B000LAXF60/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt/275-4715412-8541804?%5Fencoding=UTF8&showViewpoints=1 )0 -
What I did with my garmin was get a piece of aluminium and bend it 90 degrees. I can then push it into the dahsboard in one of the gaps betweent he radio and the trim. Then I stick the Sat Nav to that. It has the advantage of not blocking your view and is easier to reach. It's also a lot cheaper than the fancy brackets you can buy that fit in basically the same way. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends

Don't forget to clean all traces of your Sat Nav sticker when parking, the lowlife will assume it's in the glove box.0

Yeah, make sure the windscreen and the sucker are both squeaky clean. Use windolene or something similar.
It should do the trick.0 -
Just a post script on this.
Cleaning the windscreen does help but it's a bit of a nuisance to have to keep doing it periodically or risk the TT falling off.
Better by far is the Arkon TTO115 mount with suction lever which costs about £15 from morpethmobiles.co.uk or about £11 (delivered) on ebay. I'm very impressed with mine and it's good to have complete confidence that it will stay in place even when driving on potholed roads.0 -
I cleaned my windsceen in....er....March (!?) my TT1 still sticks like glue.
(I'd imagine smokers would have to clean a bit more often due to tar build up on the screen)Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0
