The ones in TKMAXX are usually the Chassuer range, not Le Cresuet.
I have a Chassuer casserole pot as I can't afford LC and it's great.0 -
I promise you, I have seen plenty of LC goods in TK Maxx (in Lewisham and Hammersmith). Along with lots of the Chasseur brand.

I'm only worried about the weight because when they are red hot & very heavy they become a danger.......
Perhaps its time to get proper oven gloves, I always think they are dirty things.....
Anyone used them silicone alternatives?
Would they ever cover enough of the hand area to lift these heavypots?
They always seem to be like a little finger guard.
Lakeland have Coolskin Gauntlets http://www.lakeland.co.uk/coolskin-gauntlets/F/keyword/gauntlet/product/1800_10774 which come quite a way up your arm and also give you the added flexibility of using gloves rather than the usual ovengloves which are all in the one piece. HTH Haven't seen the silicone alternatives so can't comment on them.0 -
My Le creuset pots are 28-35 years old now and still going. Had to dispense with the non stick frying pan as that failed after a few years.......maybe they are better now though.
The casseroles get really very hot and hold their heat well so you can turn the oven off and a casserole will keep cooking for quite some time thereby saving some energy. A word of warning;) when you take them out of the oven lay an oven glove over the lid.......this avoids you forgetting it is very hot and taking the lid off with bare hands to serve:eek: As I said, they retain their heat for a long time.........:D0 -
MrsE re your oven glove concerns, I too feel that they can get a bit dirty. One solution I have found to work well is to buy M+S pot stands. They are made of cloth etc similar to oven gloves and have a pocket for your hand. I find them easier to use and store than gloves and as they're less expensive then you can have a few spares for when you throw the dirty ones into the wash. They're usually on 3-4-2 as well.0

Another LC fan here, I often use mine on my ceramic hob, just bring stuff to the boil/simmer stage and turn down as low as possible. I find I have to keep a close eye on the LC as it can burn faster than you would expect. I find it quite heavy to put in the oven so try to make sure OH is around to lift it out. I put it in the dishwasher with no problems, but it is reccomended to take it out after washing as the drying can make it rusty!
I wasn't impresed by the IKEA pans I had as the handles, which were wooden, didn't last long. but I've bought some from ALDI which are great, and a very good price, I've also bought from a discount supermarket in France and they were excellent quality and soooo cheap. I've avoided the ones with handles so can use them on the hob or in the oven.
If you can find a LC shop in a discount shopping mall the savings are very good. I also have several on the LC china baking dishes which are fab, I get Volcano orange and display them in my pale blue kitchen as an accent colour0 -
I've just added to my collection of Le Creuset by way of very generous birthday presents. I now have a 30cm diameter round casserole dish in volcanic orange -huge
and a 22cm round casserole in dark blue with 2 stoneware baking dishes also in blue, these are great as serving dishes as well as for gratins and things like lasagne. I've already used them all and love them to bits.
Interestingly I checked the prices on Amazon France-they are more expensive there than Amazon UK.0 -
I used my first LC casserole dish yesterday and am very impressed - thought everything was sticking to it but as soon as I deglazed the pan all the stuck bits came off. Used it on a low or medium heat as the instructions said to do and all was well.Never let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0

Those are very sensible but I know when I'm busy in the kitchen I just grab the teatowel for speed.
I prefer a teatowel for things like that (I dont use them for drying as I have a DW), as its quick & handy & you can have a fresh one everytime as they are cheap & plentiful & I have lots.
With a pair of gloves you would have to mess about putting them on first & I know I would never bother & with an oven cloth or glove you don't get a fresh one out everyday & wash it (like a teatowel).
So I want something thats as handy & quick to grab as a teatowel & easy to clean too.
I think silicone mitts are the way forward for me:beer:
