I bought two of these a couple of weeks ago, and my kids think they're great.
They are using them with rechargeables which last about 8 hours, and they are only 700mah. You can get 900maH AAAs - they are half price for 4 - £3.99 at Maplin at the moment, which is a good deal if you have a charger already. They should be good for 8-10 hours. Don't waste your money on cheap AAAs from pound shops - they're usaully rubbish.

No problems with mine. I use mine in the gym, when I'm doing the housework, running around after my son, in the car (using a cassette adaptor) and generally anything. It never switches off and I get a good 8 hours of play at full volume out of my rechargeable battery.
In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

  • I bought a pack of 24 AAA batteries on BOGOF so that's 48 AAA batteries for £3 from Instore (I think they are same group as poundstretcher but not sure) anyway they were described as 'super extra heavy duty' needless to say the only thing super extra heavy duty about them was the false advertising. They lasted about 7 minutes in my MD8018. I've learned my lesson. I am now use the 900maH AAAs from 7dayshop and Maplins, which last for hours. Rechargables are so cheap it's not worth buying cheap batteries anymore.

I am no expert but I have heard that WMAs take more cpu to decode than MP3s so they wear the batteries down faster and I would assume, but I don't know for sure, that the higher the bitrate you encode at, the more power will be used to play back the tracks because the cpu has to do more work and because if has to fetch more data from memory to play the track.

    Hope that helps someone.
