    Simple innit?

Just like replastering a damp wall or giving a house a lick of paint - I don't think.

    Well well well.

I too was yelling at the telly.

Claudia was the best one for me :
We had FTBer Claudia who was absolutely determined to buy her flat come what may. You could have told her it was about to have an airport runway built through it and she would have still bought.

Apparently, according to Allbroke she was, and these are verbatim quotes,

"Under huge pressure to buy" and "Claudia risks losing everything if she doesn't buy now." Later she adds, "if she doesn't act now she loses everything, it really is now or never!"

So she buys an ex council wreck in Stockwell, South London (she wants to live in North London naturally) on offer at £235k "at the top end of my budget." She makes an offer of £223k and the Frumpster says "it's a great deal!"
This one had me jumping on the sofa. Literally.

Some of you may remember/know that I did a stint in a south london estate agents in Jan 07- march 07 ( I really wasnt very good at ramping, found something more productive to do ;) ). Many of the properties on our books went to sealed bids.

Indeed one of the flats that went to sealed bids was indeed one of those stockwell church commissioner properties. We sold off some flats for the Church commissioners, there was some in that Stockwell estate and some which are close to the Sainsburys at the Vauxhall Cross end of wandsworth road ( for those who know london)

The CC flat we were selling was a 2 bed , ground floor flat in that very same estate in stockwell that our dear claudia eventually plumped for. It was on for 275k but the sealed bids took it to 309   :rotfl: .

thats an £86,000 drop. Yes, eighty six thousand pounds. Visualise that, just for a second. Cripes.

Why she would want to live in Stockwell over Muswell hill baffled us though. After all, they feel like totally different worlds within the same city. Id be in Muswell hill like a shot over stockwell. We suggested the only reason why she would choose that was cos she could claim its "clapham borders" . I live just up the road from Stockwell and ( sorry to all who live there) really rough.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

You lost me there. How does the price rising from 275 to 309 equate to an 86k drop?

Edit: Sorry, just realised what you meant. Obviously still asleep this morning....

In this show last night, all the experts were saying one thing and the two presenters were saying another.
One expert said that we should prepare for falls of up to 50%, I had to rewind the sky+ box to check this.

Kirstie then said not to worry as all the falls have been overblown in the media and no where had lost more than 8%, indeed many were better and some were in positive territory.
Then Phil while making an offer on houses, said that he knew personally, the market in that area has gone down at least 10% since JUNE ..."at least" he added.
    Mmmm shurley not Phil?

and they said nothing about Northern Ireland.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.

    apologise for what?
Property ramping for their own personal gain. It's quite a similar crime to share ramping actually

She probably ate the baby. Hence the larger frame.
  • i got spit all over my laptop while watching this program due to all my outbursts. My OH has banned me from watching it again (not sure if it was a one-off?). Although he agreed with my points when they were more useful than "An ESTATE AGENTS recommends people buy houses? CALL THE PAPERS!"

(We had Ben Goldacre in at work yesterday lunchtime talking to us about the media and science and he's made me even more cynical about the papers etc than I was before. Oh and now slightly in love with him, even though he does look about 12 yrs old ... )
  • Don't be put off by the "we'll publish the best" comment, they published mine...fame at last...!
