KAUPTHING NEWS - ING are rejecting any fixed term accounts bought after 8 OCT

Fact 1: The Website continued to accept new BACS deposits
Fact 2: ING updated the websites logo and messages to reflect that they had taken over the deposits and website.
Based on the two factors above ING must sholder full responsibility for the website and what ever products continued to be offered on there. This is a clear case of miss-selling and as such I recommend all those effected write to the financial ombudsman in order to seek compensation.0 -
this is outrageous!!! how long would it have taken an IT 'expert' to disable the Fixed Term accounts or at least to put a message up saying what the situation was.
i opened mine on 13th Oct, had i known i could have put it into ICICI while their rates were still at 7+%....

could we please gather together a collection of good terms and phrases to use to make these emails sound more persuasive - like maybe "false advertising", "mis-sold", "lack of communication" "misleading" etc etc, I'm sure there are many people out there who can come up with a better way of putting it.:heart2: Give blood. :female: Use a mooncup.
But ensure the two are not connected!0 -
This does all seem a bit underhand an coincidental. I had previously had a fixed-rate accepted on the 12th October and as others have said there were no warnings or messages that these were not genuine . When I tried to do another fixed rate on the afternoon of the 6th Nov (the big rate drop day - and the day on which their e-mail claims they first disabled it) they had disabled the link it in a "dirty" way such that once you were logged in the fixed-rate link just gave you a standard browser "server error" message. I tried it several times and it was repeatable just on that link. So, it's not as though they disabled it cleanly with a nice message - they've just had some website techie delete a page or corrupt a link in some way. They should have done this sooner!0

I really feel for you guys, I was on the verge of opening a new FTD mid-way through September before, after much forum-searching, I discovered that they wouldn't honour it.
ING's conduct with relation to the KE FTDs has been disgraceful and I'd like to see them held to account for it.0 -
Can anyone tell me, as I've never done this before, what is the procedure and who do you write to if you have a complaint against a bank? Is there a central overseeing body that deals with complaint or regulates their conduct (there must be I know, I'm just ignorant as to what it is!). And the fact that ING is a Dutch bank (and KE an ex-Icelandic bank) does that mean that you have to write to the overseeing bodies in those countries? I'd be grateful for any advice on who I should take my complaint to.
Update on my account - the money showed up in my KE savings account and the FTD was wiped clean of my record yesterday. I have now attempted to transfer the whole amount to my nominated account and will give it the requisite 3 days and let you know what happens. I know that there is a thread running by people who broke their FTDs on purpose and have had a lot of problems/delays in getting their hands on their money, so fingers crossed those who've had their FTDs rejected won't be in the same position.0 -
See http://www.ingdirect.co.uk/general/contactus/complaints.asp?section=savings
which gives the ING complaints process and details of the Financial Ombudsman Service.0 -
Thank you!!0

I feel the need for a new action group. I believe they must be on EXTREMELY dodgy legal grounds. They have sent out plenty of communication and posts about the savings 'being transferred' and 'your accounts will operate normally'. Therefore, if I move money from instant account into an FTD, AND THERE IS NOTHING ON THE WEBSITE TO THE SAY THIS WILL BE AN INVALID TRANSACTION, they must be on extremely dodgy territory.
I've not checked yet to if I got hte email, but hadn't as of mid afternoon today.
I hope someone has kept most of their initial news posts on the takeover before they remove them from the various websites.
They can' ton the one hand make a statement that your accounts will operate normaly, and then later say they don't have responsibility for the systems i.e. the operation of the accounts!!! Misrepresentation on several fronts.0
