What message to you think it gives the puppy farmers when they discover how easy it is to dump thier old rubbish on a rescue centre?

Do you think it makes them reconsider what they are doing, or does it just encourage them to do it to another dog knowing full well they can dump that one on the same rescue centre as well when it's knackered?

And don't you think that they would just dispose of them in some other inhumane way instead? I think it's you with rose tinted specs if you think they'd just say 'oh well, nowhere to dump these dogs, I'll just pack away and stop puppy farming'!!

Sorry, but if humans weren't in such a rush to satisfy their "must have right now" attitude puppy farms wouldn't exist.

They only exist to fill the wants of people - no demand there would be no supply

We ALL have to accept out responsibility in keeping thse places open, even if all we are guilty of is turning a blind eye

I agree to some extent, but I think it's a lack of education not a willful turning of a blind eye. People are unlikely to intentionally support these places least of all because they will get an unhealthy puppy with massive vets fees.
  • Stone me - Its all a bit hot in these posts...

I see puppies brought in from "puppy farms" all the time. Whilst I do not condone what they do it is not easy for the average person to spot what is going on. I have seen every single type of combination:
    1. farms
    2. so called reputable breeders with large numbers of !!!!!es
    3. trades done in service station car parks
    4. adverts actually stating a whole list of breeds
    5. and many many more
My latest client stung by these was a little cross breed bought for £350 and they were wating for the "pedigree" - it wont turn up - it never does. The pup is thankfully very healthy but only "worth" about £50. I usually ask the killer question "do you love it as it is" and if they do then there is no problem really and maybe next time they will be a bit more careful.

There is the other side of the coin...
had a client with bulldog pups - went to sell one - the buyer took the pup and ran off into the night - the meeting was on a very dodgy housing estate. The £1200 was all in fake money.

I have also heard of threats being made to breeders if they dont sell a certain person a pup - that is almost regular here.
