Exactly what I was doing wrong. I kept pressing the accelerator, more so just as she was about to 'catch', which killed it instantly. I was told by the garage just to turn it over and don't touch the accelerator - I did and it took 45 seconds for it to start to catch, but persisted in turning it over and not pressing the pedal, then she started to fire properly and I could start to press the accelerator gently and release the starter.A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.0 -

Yep, that's exactly the problem I had - read somewhere (Mondeos Forum) that because of the short distance there's unburnt petrol on a sensor. Maybe because the battery is exhausted there isn't that final oumphh!! to start the engine while fully depressing the accelerator and turning the ignition. Ensure battery is fully charged up and try again tomorrow?0 -

Will just go and try it now as it has been sitting for the past 4 hours.
Will let you know what happens0 -
I tried starting it and keeping it going for over a minute and there is just no attempt on the engine to fire over, it just turns and there is no small amount of it firing up.
I tried it a good few times for a few minutes each and now the battery is dead completely that it won't even make a noise when trying to start.
Put the battery back on charge now.
Anything else I can try before I will have to book it in to a garage?
Can anyone tell me, how much am I looking for the car to be recovered and taken about 1 mile to a garage?!0 -
Hi.. here is my two pence worth..
When you try to start the engine, press the pedal down slowly but progressively to the floor and keep it there while the engine is turning over. Do not pump it if it starts to fire weakly, just keep it fully pressed until it fires up completely and the rev shoots up.
If it does not work, a mobile mechanic would be your second hope.
Good luckBe nice, life is too short to be anything else.0 -

Will try tomorrow again and hopefully it will fire over.
I just get the feeling it maybe something more than excess fuel as there is no attempt whatsoever on the engine on it firing over as it just turns and does even try and catch, thinking it could be ignition related where the spark comes from (Hope it's that simple)
Would change the spark plugs and leads but there is no way I can as to get access would be impossible as anyone who has had/seen the engine bay on a Mondeo V6 2000 will know what I am talking about.
Will try tomorrow and not touch the accelerator and leave it turning and see what happens.

Thank's will try this way too tomorrow.
I have a garage that can look at it/ put it on a diagnostics computer and fix it but getting the car there is going to be the main problem, will have to find a recovery service0 -
Oh.. try to spray some WD-40 on the reachable ignition parts before you try to start it tomorrow, as I imagine, some moisture could be there after not running the car for two days.Be nice, life is too short to be anything else.0

Was going to do that today
But all the parts are under the manifold on top the engine just like the HT leads and spark plugs are, an impossible thing for me to even try and do
Will try and see if there are any parts I can put some on tomorrow.
I will say is that over the last few months when I have driven the car and parked it then say an hour later gone back to it it has taken two maybe three attempts to start, don't know if thats a sign of anything or something that may have no failed altogether

Just re-read my post before last.. Depress the accelator fully and hold it there and then start the engine.
Reading your last post makes me wonder, when was the last time you have serviced your car and has been done then! If all is uptodate, then, check fuel related fuses ( pump ) Do you have the car's manual or a Haynes manual?Be nice, life is too short to be anything else.0
