    Ok well some good news,

I got my call form DVLA today and they had received my details, i was a bit confused at first but the extremely helpful guy explained that they had been returned form the address on the V5C (filled in when i bought the car).

So i now have all my docs on the guys desk at the Birmingham office and i am just going to post off my postal order and all will be sorted, new V5 in a few weeks. - Thanks to those that offered advice.

And for the record, I asked him to settle the agument in this thread and he told me i am correct, It is the owner who has responsibility to send off the V5 meaning the person who's V5 it is, so Tinkerbell was completly wrong offering false advice that could get people into a lot of trouble, take heed.

No doubt tinkerbell wont believe me, so phone up yourself if you wish 08708500007 - He said there is no way he would advise you hand over a V5 to a new owner, he said that is a very silly thing to do. - they get theirs through the post , and have the V5C just incase the seller doesn't send it off, exactly my situation i am using the V5C to get a free V5 as the seller failed to do his duty.

DVLA state the owner of the V5 must send it off, not the person you are selling it to

Tinkerbell either you are lying (on purpose or just through lack of knowledge i dont know) or every person that has bought or sold a car to / from you has been doing it the wrong way and they / you have left themselves open to incrimaination , you are lucky no one has taken advantage - i would go and check with DVLA which cars you are registered with and check the reg of your 12 cars as they maybe registered to someone else also ! Either way you just owned youself in your favourite forum !

    :rotfl:

    Thanks

    From the V5c

    The registered keeper (seller) must:-

complete section 6 of the registration certificate and section 10 and give SECTION 10 to the New Keeper (buyer)

BOTH the seller and buyer sign the declaration at Section 8.

Return the page opposite to Swansea

From the rear of the New Keepers Supplement IF the new Registraion Certificate is not received after 6 weeks, please contact DVLA
