Abbey's Account now with Visa Electron

i've read a few posts on hear and co-op seem to be very strict on there rules, My parents used to have a Instant plus account with them about 10 years ago (things may of changed since they brought it back) and they do upgrade on how you run the account.

Important: You can't put in an application specifically for the Instant Plus Account, you have to put in a current account application. Only if you fail to meet the requirements for The Abbey Current Account will you get an Instant Plus Account.

Yes you can have an instant plus account i went into branch today and a lady told me they are introducing this account again and it's in there bank brochure book. So if you want an instant plus account pop into branch they will open one for you. you get a visa electron with this and they can upgrade you to a normal account.

A&L are way worse than Abbey, they are nightmare personified!!!

Nowhere else will have me thanks to A&L leaving false information on my credit file, so lets just see what happens here!!!!!!

Rang the Abbey today to check the status of my application, they are saying that i have been accepted for a second current account with an Electron. Which if it is true will be shocking as i have had a charge on my first account each month for a year!!!! plus my credit history at present is worse than bad!!!!! so there is hope for us all!!!!!!

Have you closed your first account, did you tell them about your other account? Have you had any funds going into your other account? sorry to ask so many questions, just trying to understand the situation. all this even though you have those CIFAS warning there must be hope then well done.

No false hope. Im not kidding i spoke to about 10 people at Abbey. Each told me that i had been accepted until i just ring again and by coincidence they have been getting it confused with my first account. This is because i opened the first account exactly this time last year. So the idiots at Abbey werent checking the year just the date. According to them there is no application even pending. I went into the branch today to open an instant plus so ill keep you updated on that. If anything ever comes of it! Bloody Abbey!

I applied for an account yesterday and have had this email reply today..

"At this time we are unable to offer you the Abbey Bank Account you applied for but we are pleased to offer you the Basic Account.

The Basic account comes with a cash card and the facility to set up standing orders and Direct Debits to pay for things. You can manage your account using our cash machine network, telephone banking service or via the Internet. You can even get money out at the Post Office. "

I hope this is an old email response and I have actually got the Instant Plus account.

Give them a ring, did you tick the box which states if you don't qualify for a full bank account you can have an instant plus.
