    Im slightly baffled

You say youve installed and run AVIRA

Yet (Unless im missing it) theres no mention of it in the log you just posted. BUT, you ARE running AVG 8!

If you have both installed you MUST uninstall one or the other (I recommend keeping Avira)

Also, goto WINDOWS UPDATE and download all availabkle updates

loks like Windows is up to date as it shows Vista SP1

run hijackthis again and tick the following

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - !!7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)

    and then tick "fix Selected"

You get what you pay for....

Uninstall Avira and AVG. Go to https://www.eset.com and download a free trial of NOD32. Use that to clean it all out and then pay for it when the trial ends.

looking around I think Safesoft is not spyware , I think it's ok to download

the log looks clean , you have AVG 8 , which should be ok

I agree of the free protection available Avira comes out on top ,although you will need a seperate program for spyware/adware.

Nod 32 is relatively poor on malware detection..Avg again middle of the road.
Always follow the path of least resistance.
