    Im thinking youve got confused
I ment scan with AVG 8. The firewall is to stop the nasty 2009 anti virus (bogus) from reaching the net

And I dont believe AVG actually failed you as such. Anti virus 2009 was almost certainly instaled at some point (Which isnt an ACTUAL virus or trojan ~ it CREATES them somehow)

Still, if you want to try another. Download AVIRA anti virus. Uninstall AVG, then install Avira. UPDATE and SCAN with it

    Agreed
Which is why im thinking its version 7.5 and NOT 8 (7.5 doesnt have the spyware built in)

    Im curious Ayeshasi
How long has AVG been on your computer, and how long have you known anti virus 2009 has been on?

    i have the AVG 7.5

The antivirus 2009 has been actually trying to install itself again and again....(even when im clicking cancel) since saturday....not done it again though today therefore im assuming i did manage to get rid of it somehow cos i cant see it anywhere on my laptop.

Ok, yeh i did get confused.....should i scan the system with AVG tonight right? Then i should be able to check my emails right?? LOL

You havnt INSTALLED anti virus 2009 have you? If so uninstall it now. Its not legit and has caused MOST of the trojans you have!

av2009 doesnt have a un-install program. Here is how i got rid of it.

    1. START >RUN > MSCONFIG.
Click the STARTUP tab then UN-CHECK AV2009 then close.

    2. Run a scan on Malwarebytes.
Once you have run the scan open the quarantine folder in Malwarebytes you should see ROGUE,AV2009

    3.Delete everything Malwarebytes has quarantined.

    4. Go to your program files folder and delete the folder named AV2009 and then reboot.

    Hope this helps

Id guess that Malwarebytes has gotten rid of it

You still NEED to install AVG 8 though

Yes could be Malwarebytes has got rid of it.. Did you check your program files folder to see if the AV2009 folder has been deleted also?

Ive installed avira instead now. Iv done a full scan and it detected 2 more viruses which have now been deleted.

I still cannot access my emails :@

And im also getting a notification to install smartsound quicktrack plugin...when i do, its not installing properly.....and when i cancel, the msg keeps popping up :@
