That was interesting espresso. That was the same site that the engineer tried to do a speed test on whilst he was here and he couldn't get the site to load. He said they must be having problems on the site.

Well, I have just tried it from your link and it still doesn't load. When I click on the 'my results' tab and then click on 'test again' it shows a whole lot of nothing! either 'n/a' or simply no data showing. Any thoughts?

The engineer told me from his own test equipment I was getting just over 1/2 Mb (half) and that within a fortnight this could well creep up to just short of 3/4 Mb.
He also said the speed restriction is because we only have 0.5mm cable and that even if BT upgraded it to 0.6mm I would see a tremendous improvement but that they are not going to do that! Great service eh!!!
The loop attenuation was 64.5 dB
    SNR margin was 10.50 dB
    Output power is 16.50 dB
    Capacity 61%
    Max bit rate 1024 kbs
    Loop length 4464 metres.

That was as far as I got squinting over his shoulder at his computer when he was running the end tests.

Oh yes and 63 dB line loss at nearest sub station?:rotfl:

The output power is too high, the openreach engineer has fitted an NTE5 socket, this will do nothing if you have more than two extensions. He should have fitted an NTE2000 and run a cable directly to your router, as well as checking that any extensions you have are not mini masters. Typical BT, but this why I am in a job :p

He said that the output is dependant on what sort of service I am getting. The service is an ADSL Max and therefore WAS compatible with these readings.
He did indeed check for other masters (and mini's) and as I do not have any, that was why he fitted the NTE 5A master.
He HAS in fact run a cable direct from master to router.
And actually so far so good. At least I have BB now!:T
    But thanks anyway.
