No, it's not with them Laura, but it's with a DCA as youself. They are demanding monies to which I have no idea regarding the origin of this so called 'debt'!

I hope you sort it out quickly.

You may have informed them verbally of that, however, when you speak to a CC you have no knowledge of what is recorded.

A third party is now involved (Westcott) who are well known on this site   you must NO LONGER SPEAK TO ANYONE VERBALLY, for your own benefit, all communication MUST BE DONE IN WRITING ONLY.

Yeah thanks for that, virgin media rung my partner and he wrote back!

    Who is the DCA?
Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional

Not wanting to hijack Laura's thread, but it's with one called 'Debt Managers Ltd'. The reason I joined here today was initially on looking for some advice regarding my current situation so a quick click on my name for initial posting would explain 10past6.

Laura, something else I believe is relevant with the problem you have with VM is that when you are moving within your initial 12 month contract is that unless they can provide their service at your new address, they won't charge you the outstanding balance, this may have changed though, but worth checking.

they said they would charge a canceliation fee which would then be refuned when we took up the new service here, the point is the account being in my name rarther than my partners they said it would not be a problem and would not be problem everytime we spoke to them on the phone, they lied to us.

    Laura / Andy

You need to confirm with VM if the "Debt has been sold" to Wescott

Have you spoken to a manager? The problem with call operators is that they only know what they can see on your acount. If the previous operator didn't make a note, then the 'debt' would have gotten processed automatically after a set period.

You have to speak directly with a manager and get them to look into the debt situation, and be persistant.

Alot of companies process debpts automatically, my partner had a problem with three, because of a rogue company charging £200 for sms that he never signed up for, despite calling three who said it was fine to withold payment until the sms company settled, the debt got automatically sent to a debt collector after a certain period.

In regards to the rude call operator, on low paid jobs you always get a couple like this, if you can't get anywhere with someone, hang up and call back to speak to someone different.

Hello, no we haven't we don't want to do it over the phone.
  • I had problems with Virgin over a completely different issue and had real problems talking to a supervisor (they don't want to put you through - and I mean EVER), and I also wrote 4 times, and to Trading Standards and OFCOM.

I did get it resolved in the end. I wrote to a complaints address listed under their Code of Practice on their website. Trading Standards and OFCOM also gave me good advice, although they don't get involved themselves. As soon as I mentioned a date by which I wanted it sorted and the word 'compensation' it seemed to help.

Causes a lot of stress dealing with these things.
