Woo hoo...just got a £28 bank charge waived! Usually really good with our spending account but it all went a bit wrong on one day but because I have been good they've waived it this time. Hmmm shall get back to the grindstone!
Fluttering about an inch off the ground, I may fly properly one day and soar in the clouds!

SPC2 #571 - trying to get as much as possible
  • Good morning. I need to get cracking, I've got a friend coming for lunch at 12.00.
    HHC 11.00 - 11.30 anyone?
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in. :D
  • Well my casserole's in the slow cooker. I'm just thinking I might make cobbler topping for it. I also SS'd the kitchen while I was prepping.

Anyone else like me finds it very hard to buy shoes in a shoe shop? I can't stand the smell, although I like the smell of leather. Anyway, I ordered some shoes/boots by mail order (I also have very wide feet due to problem at birth) and am sitting with a pair of boots on, but they don't feel very comfortable. Although the width seems OK, it's the depth from top of foot to sole that feels too shallow. Oh well, back to the drawing board!

    1. Go to bed early! - I wish...... I'm finding it really hard to sleep  (must get more Valerian tablets this week)

    4. Last but by no means least... HHI!!!!!!!! OK I give in...I'll attack the Horrible Pile while DH gets on with painting the kitchen cupboard doors.
We're in the process of renovating the kitchen which went in at the end of 1988 - the unit carcasses are fine but the doors could do with a facelift. They are solid wood, so we decided to prime and paint them. We chose a Farrow and Ball colour (cooking apple green) and then used the Colour matching service to get as close to that as possible in a hardwearing kitchen paint.
We have replaced the 1980's tiles with wainscotting (also painted "cooking apple green lookalike")and plan to change the tiled worksurface as soon as we can afford to. We need a new hob - our existing gas one is 20+ years old and you can't get the knobs, pan rests or burner rings any more. We also need to replace the sink - we made a real mistake when we bought the pale stone coloured "plastic" one - it is impossible to clean as it stains really easily and it looks really sleazy no matter what I use on it (I have tried everything from Barkeepers Friend to Ajax and it isn't having any of it  ). We'll go for a stainless steel one when we can! DH is making a framed tiled panel for the splashback to the hob - mounted to the wall on picture plates, it means we can change it easily if we want to.

Huggles to all the poorly ones here - I'll catch up on this thread eventually.

Thanks Pink - you didn't realise, but you've answered a question for me. I was pondering what to do for dinner tonight. I have some diced game in the freezer - I shall take that out, defrost it and stick in the slow cooker for stew for tonight.

I have done the washing up and given the kitchen surfaces a good old scrub and clean. The sun is shining and it seems we had some mucky rain as the outside windows are mucky. I may or may not get round to cleaning them. I keep having to sit down for a bit in between doing stuff - I'm not as bad as I was yesterday but I'm nowhere near right.

Have put some towels in a hot wash - they can go on the line when they finish. Also did my thick bedspread earlier and that's on the line already. And I've mopped the main hall floor. I think I deserve a proper sit down and cup of tea now whilst the game is defrosting in the microwave.

  • Soappie - happy to be of service!:D Seriously though, feeling rough I'm just looking for easy options, the less effort the better. Hope you feel better soon. I'm giving the ABs one more day then back to the doc's.
