    - cambelt kit inc all tensioners
    - alternator belt kit inc all tensioners
    - water pump
    - labour

supply and fit by main dealer, found small garages not to be much cheaper :(

    Here's what I would estimate:

    cam belt kit - £150 - £200 (or about £100 for a non-OEM part)
    alternator belt & tensioners - £100 - £150 (OEM part)
    water pump £60 (OEM part)
    labour - about £200 - £250 (about 4 hours)

Total about £600 including vat assuming all OEM parts are used (which I would recommend)

we just got our timing belt changed it only cost 20.00 10 for the belt and 10.00 for 15 mins labour. we got quotes from all the big garages and they wanted over 100.00 but we went to a small back street independant garage and we got a better quality belt for a fraction of the price now we have got a cheap reliable garage to goto for future maintanance on the car and our car is over 10 years old

    (a) what car was that on? 15 mins to change a timing belt on many modern cars is just not possible I'm afraid.
    (b) what makes you believe the belt is a better quality than the OEM part?

Sorry to hijack your thread - I am led to believe (from somewhere) that I require a cam belt change on my '06 Clio 1.2 8V engine. Is this true? Can someone lead me to the right direction, better safe than sorry, isn't it?

It will say for definite in your service book. My '02 Clio 1.2 16v is 5 years or 72,000 miles whichever is reached first.

By the way I had my timing belt and aux belt changed for £175 inc VAT. The belt kit was £75+VAT.

I'm a bit wary of mine as there is a deep vibrating noise at low revs while stationary from the engine bay since I had the work done. I've since found that the belt used is not an OEM part despite going to a so-called Renault 'Specialist'. Upon checking the part number of the belt with the manufacturers website its the part corresponding to an 8v engine .

Should I be worried? I took it to a dealer to check it over and they can't find anything wrong. I wish I'd had the work done at a dealer now for peace of mind.

I'll sure this is due to the tensioners of the aux belt not being changed, that's why I bite the bullet, took my clio to Renault today and had the following done :

    cam belt kit
    alternator belt & tensioners
    water pump
    re-fill anti freeze
    labour

total cost, £566 but IMO worth it for peace of mind.
