No Refund From Seller As Promised

My Mum bought some snowglobes from ebay years ago which broke in the post, were securely wrapped with bubble wrap, then cardboard, then put in a box then bubble wrapped again. Royal Mail paid out no problems, this was sent normal post & IIRC the seller had no proof of postage at all.2025 - finally back comping after a stressful house move - send me fairy dust please!

Consider this for a moment.
The item HAS been lost, or is taking an age due to Xmas.
Seller thinks that YOU don't actually have the broken part and are trying to pull the wool over their eyes.
When they asked for receipt they may have assumed you send it recorded.
They are not ignoring you and have been in constant contact.
I can't see a reason to assume they are the guilty party here.
If I've missed something then please feel free to explain it to me.
Hang on a minute! I only started this thread as I wanted some advise, not to be made to feel like the guilty party!!
Perhaps it has got lost in the post, all I'm saying is that I find it hard to believe that the "christmas post" as she called it would have caused this delay as it was posted over 3 weeks ago.As I've already said I've had things arrive this week that I only purchased through ebay last week. I just feel that she's trying to pull the wool over my eyes and hope that I'll eventually give up. I will give her the benefit of the doubt and wait until after christmas as there's not much I can do now anyway but if it hasn't arrived by the end of next week then I will claim for the "lost" parcel through Royal Mail and also go through Paypal and file a claim for the £9 that I had to pay out for the new inner tube.lisyloo wrote:However if it was an expensive item, then a good seller really would have just refunded the £9 by now.
As a buyer I would have offered to send digital pictures by email.
I paid nearly £80 for this pushchair, so yes, if she was a good seller she would have just given me the refund. She only has to see my feedback to see what a good buyer I am.
I do have a digital camera which unfortunately my 19 month old daughter dropped on the floor and no longer works, I'm obviously an idiot for:- a) not sending a copy of the receipt, b) not sending it either recorded or special delivery, c) not sending her a photo via email and d) not asking friends, neighbours etc for the use of their digital camera! Oh well, I've think I've learnt my lesson this time, do all of the above and not bother asking for advise.
The world would be a sad place to live with no chocolate!

But you are making accusations at someone with no evidence whatsoever and I am questioning that.
Don't take it the wrong way.
I don't want to waste my time having a go at anybody.
I come here to help people.all I'm saying is that I find it hard to believe that the "christmas post" as she called it would have caused this delay as it was posted over 3 weeks ago.
I agree it's unlikely it has been delayed after that amount of time.
But it's possible it's been lost.
Why can't you accept that is possible?
I genuinely think you would enjoy your life more if you thought that rather than automatically thought badly of someone without reason.
Did you get a good deal on the pushchair?
If you got a good deal, the be happt with it, even though it cost you £9 more.
If you didn't get a great deal then learn from this and factor in the disadvantages of ebay (over buying from a shop) into your top bid.I'm obviously an idiot
You are not an idiot for not doing those things.
You are however an idiot if you ignore all the friendly advise that people have given you here with their free time.
You need to take all the advice and learn from it for next time.
Ebay is NOT THE SAME as buying from a shop.
Factor this into your pricing.
I hope at least one bit of what I've said has been some use to you (otherwise I'll stop wasting my time).
Good Luck !!0 -
Strange that lisyloo they paid out even though it was sent as a stndard parcel.
Royal mail are of course at liberty to offer compensation over and above their own terms and conditions.
I'm not saying they enforce it rigorously but it definitely is there so they could enforce it if they wanted to e.g. the parcel wasn't well wrapped.
In my case the glass came in a jiffy bag so I don't thikn it was well packed.
Also because the glass was in many pieces I really didn't want to either package it or stand in a queue at the post office with it, because I could have got injured.0 -
Hi Lisyl
Yeah i know what you are saying regarding the compen
I have the Rm site in my favs and refer to it regularly when selling ( for packaging )
. I thought i would try claiming if they paid they paid if they didnt they didnt.
I was shocked they paid out but they did .
Also idont blame you for not wanting to get injured

Cant you just go back to the shop and explain the situation and ask for another receipt then send recorded postage ?0
