How? Do you imagine that burglars select their targets by looking at the fronts of properties? I doubt it. Most burglars will target properties in their own neighbourhoods as they will know the best escape routes and they will know the times when the property is empty. Otherwise, burglaries are opportunistic affairs, again very likely to be close to the burglar's own home.
Sorry, but I think there are more useful sources of information than GSV on the Internet which criminals can use.
After hearing the professional burglar on Jeremy Vines show who did it as a living who had done thousands of them , he would rent a room at a travelodge and target homes away from where he lived all across the UK , so yes this would save alot of legwork wouldnt it and make it easier0 -
Hang a sheet advertising something over the front of your house.
Paint offensive acronyms .
Spray rude words with silly snow.
Hang a picture of a bum in the window.
Since they are keeping this information on a database they are under the auspices of the data protection act. You could change the appearence of the house after they have taken the photo and then advise them they are keeping incorrect/out of date data.
Paint your house front with unique original art work and charge them for breach of copyright.
etc

Londoners should check out http://www.seety.co.uk/. Some crafty Italians already did the whole place, and to add insult to Google's injury at being beaten, used Google Maps API as the mapping layer

Did you read my post at all then ?
It will make it easier as they can do it from the confort of there own homes, hundreds of streets at a time, rather than traveling across the country to do it
WOW i never knew they could see if your home or not. :rotfl:
Well just dont worry! loosen up a bit, its not like you could shield your home from peeking eyes anyway or google or some bloke with a mask
oh and for the terrorist thing, it`s not like there gonna come to your house to kill you lot, i do not think most of you are worth the effort! :rotfl:
And it would be great use this, you could see a house before you buy it or use it for a load of stuff!
Yea google have just copied the Italians!0 -

I saw one of the imaging planes back in the summer. Quite obvious as it was flying in a small grid, I saw it make about 6 passes in 2 directions.
I stood outside for an hour, so hopefully I'll be in the pics :j0 -

I doubt it will. I've seen interviews with burglars and unless you live in some big mansion you're most likely to be hit by an opportunist i.e. a junkie.
Believe it or not things like net curtains can reduce your risk of burglary because it's harder for them to quickly tell if someone is in.
Ever considered that Mr Vine's show may of looked to get a professional burglar who would say that google streetview will help..."One thing that is different, and has changed here, is the self-absorption, not just greed. Everybody is in a hurry now and there is a 'the rules don't apply to me' sort of thing." - Bill Bryson0 -
I personally like this and I'm happy to have the colour of my front door published on the Internet in exchange for the ability to "visit" any part of the world without going there.0
