Dont be ripped off on your LGV training
Anyone here thinking of training for their hgv (lgv nowdays) licence should AVOID sterling lgv training. they have a long list of ex trainees claiming to have been ripped off by false advertising and dreadful service.
Anyone needing information, or with any information to add should visit:

Best thing to do is ring a few up and get some prices and have a chat you can tell by the way folk talk to you if they will be idiots or not and do it all yourself. I am currently doing class one training(test tomorrow) and the company still booked my test for me so I just paid and turned up.
And happy driving to anyone that does go for it :cool:0 -
I used pathways for my LGV training and found them to be excellent good service and delivered what they said on their website0

I've moved this thread over to the Motoring Board
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -

I think readers should take with a pinch of salt recommendations for HGV companies from newbies with just 1 post. Some 'national' HGV training companies use the internet as thier primary medium and are known for googling themselves and adding fake reviews or recommendations to forums and review sites.
The best thing for anybody to do when looking into HGV training is to find local schools and approach them direct, stay away from 'national training providers' as they are mainly just middlemen often leaving a stream of unhappy customers in thier wake. The internet on this occasion is the worst place to look for HGV training as it has been abused by disreputable companies in order to deceive trainees. Use the yellow pages or go visit trucknet.com0 -
Yellow Pages are no better or worse than the internet for finding reputable companies of any sort. Use either only as a guide as to what is available, then try to get personal recommendations before making any decisions or parting with hard earned cash.
www.trucknetuk.com is the best place to look for advice, especially the "Newbies" forum.
If you live in or near Stoke-on-Trent (Staffordshire) then I can personally recommend Bassett's Transport Training Ltd near to Stone, as I have passed LGV 2 & 1 with them during the last 3 years both at 1st attempt.
Also worth considering are FedEx UK Ltd in Newcastle-u-Lyme (Staffs) who have their own LGV training school and driver employment agency.
Always get a written quote before signing up for training. I should point out that I didn't pay for my own training as it was funded by the EC as part of a redundancy deal.Never trust a financial institution.

They must be doing something right as i regulary see them out and about doing driver training when im working around that area, as Hubert said i wouldnt touch the big lgv trainers with a barge pole!0 -
And if you're in the Leicester area you can do worse than Coates HGV training... the Co-op use them iirc.... as well as lots of other big firms....0

As a long term member of that site,I'd agree.
