    If youve find the 'ssid'
Then goto your desktop computer, scan for available networks (Assuming your connecting wirelessly??)
and try to connect to that ssid

    ahhh
I see, the 'booster' is the 'wireless dongle' thats needed for a wireless connection.
Im off to the gym now, but I would suggest (If no one else picks up where I left off)
uninstalling the program that came with the 'booster' and resinstalling it (Assuming you still have the cd driver disc)
If still no joy then maybe see if there are any nasties on your computer
    Download MALWAREBYTES
    http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html
    UPDATE and SCAN
(Have to put the program onto your laptop first of course then transfer to the desktop via a USB memory chip or CD or whatever)

Ill try and pick up when im back in (Be later tonight though im afraid)

I have tried to do that, the booster or dongle light is still off and have even plugged into usb on front of computer whilst doing this. On the screen it says

    creating a profile
    available wireless network
Please selet the network you want to connect to:

but its not giving any choices... really worried that I have messed it up even more.

If you have any more suggestions later or tomorrow will be really grateful. I hate feeling out of my depth.

    Thanks again

Can`t do the link for the nasties as don`t have any way to get it to the desktop, we don`t have a memory chip etc.
