Anyone remember what the minimum balance in KE instant was needed to still hold the FTDs? I'm only a little above £1k in the instant, would like to draw down, but don't want to give ING excuse for breaking my FTDs

Once you hold a FTD there doesn't seem to be any necessity to still have a KE instant account. From their T&Cs:

    7.1.3 Minimum Combined Balance
If you hold a Savings Account but not a Fixed Term Deposit Account, the required minimum balance on the Savings
Account is £1. However, if you hold a Savings Account and a Fixed Term Deposit Account, there is no minimum
    balance for the Savings Account.

I opened the FTD yesterday, just before they took it off the site. It's showing as opened for one year at 7.15%. Hope they're not going to come back later and tell me it's not valid!

Mine also went down today. I want to close the account but can find no info on how to do that on the website.
I have requested to withdraw the whole balance, will this automatically close the account, and will they add the interest for November?
The account is now showing zero balance.

just spoke to KE, the rate was dropped today, if only they acted so quickly when it comes to increasing the interest rate!! also they are not issuing any more bonds.

If only they acted so quickly when performing CHAPS transfers. I said I would be closing my account and I will do so even sooner, but they still owe me £20 and outstanding interest. Very poor really.

Hi, emptying the account won't close it. You have to ring customer services on 08451313233 to close it.

Psst if you ring 01159836331 instead you get through to the same place cheaper :) see http://www.saynoto0870.com/

When you close it, you get your balance back, plus the amount of interest earned up to that point for this month.

Fortunately, I opened the Egg 6.3% account fixed for 12 months, which permits additional deposits, so mine will be winging its way to Egg.
As will mine on Monday. No point doing it now as it wont be actioned until Monday anyway. Glad I went for the Egg account when it was available as a fallback as its going to be very useful now.

Remember that they are still only doing BACS as I think CHAPS is 'broken'.

there's an assumption that everyone uses their phone enough to be worth buying fully-paid-for calling plans... the 0845 number would be charged at local rate for me, but Nottingham (0115) would be national.

Actually, when going through BT, 0845 numbers are charged at 7p set up and 2p a minute thereafter.

I registered with http://18185.co.uk/index2.php and save quite a bit on weekday day time calls. For any landline call in the UK, the charge is 5p set up and NIL P per minute thereafter, up to an hour. If you want to chat longer, just hang up and dial again to get another hour for 5p.

I get evening and weekend calls free on the BT option I chose.

As did I, the day before it was closed so I am well chuffed. Could have done with an email from ING though.

have just checked my KE account.. im sure it was 6.55% gross rate... today its says:

    Gross interest rate * 4.55%

    * The gross rate is compounded monthly achieving an AER rate of 4.55%. For further interest rate information, please see our Terms and Conditions.
** The online accrued interest calculation display is being suspended temporarily while system improvements are made. We thank you for your patience.

So are they just going to have the same low rates as ING? i was a ING customer, but i guess im now back on there rates and in a round-a-bout way, still their freking customer!

Sorry, but did you miss the BoE announcement yesterday? The Bank Rate was slashed by a massive 1.5%. Did you honnestly expect that this would not affect savings rates. If you can find any account that now offers 6.55%, instant access, please tell me because I will move my money to that account.
