Sorry, I couldn't find the link for shoeboxes for soldiers, but stumbled across this appeal for boxes for Rwanda. They're for orphans/poor children of the Rwandan genocide. Might be of interest to someone. Their deadline is 17 November.

I read the wikipedia entry about samaratains purse and ONE of the things that stood out as wrong was they made £22m in 2006 and only £1.3m was spent on relief and aid. The rest was spent on promotion and operating their BUSINESS0

Does anyone know of any other shoebox appeals in northern ireland? Samaritans purse is the only one i can find so far, and i've done 2 for them but just wondering if there were any others? TIA:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0

Hi, I'm doing 2 for Samaritans purse - just had a qun, are we allowed to tie them with ribbon etc to seal them or is that pointless as they will be opened to check the contents? Thanks!0

i use an elastic band as they will be opened for checking but not putting anything i suspect the lid would come off and the contents fall out in transitWins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0

I notice no-one does anything like this for animals - you have endless charities and children in need etc - but never anything for animals .
Thats where my money will go anyway.
I also dont believe in giving to all these other countries either -there''re enough needy people /animals in our own country .
The government is too keen on throwing money to foreigners - what about looking after ourselves for a change !
Not a christian either - not religious at all .0 -
I like the idea of post pals but i suspect these children will be getting gifts.
Im going to put a few books and a handbag for a little girl into the boxes at superdrug for local children who cant afford a xmasWins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
Nobody should suffer especially children regardless of what country they live in! Its not their fault they live where they do and are in those situations. id like to think people would help us should we ever need it.Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0
