I'm on virgin BB, have a "2MB" link, obviously though speeds are not 2MB, but never had a problem with dropping of service.....they use NTL's DNS and other servers,

    no problems, nice service....
  • Hello mrJ

I've just copied and pasted this from my Virgin Account.

    Your Current package:
    Broadband Plan Three
    change
    Price:
£12.49 Promotion price applicable until December 2006

So I guess I really do have Broadband plan 3?

    Hi,

We have been with Virgin for about forteen months now on their £14.99 broadband package. It used to be £17.99 I think, but then they made it cheaper for the same connection speed, so we went with that one. Now it seems slow in comparison to what other offer, but it still suits us at the moment. We went with Virgin becuase they didn't want a 12 month contract, which was ideal for us becuase we are tenants and knew we'd be movinghouse in under a year. However, when we did move house we could still get Virgin at our new address so we kept the contract but it took them a month to transfer us over! They wouldn't offer us any money off for that either, even though we couldn't use the service we were paying for for a month! Other than that though, I've not got any complaints; though the modem is slightly dodgy it's not made by virgin but was supplied by them.

In conclusion (!) I wouldn't not recommend them to other people, but there are faster connections for less or similar money out there if you look around.

I've been with Virgin for several years now, and have usually found them fine. My package was 512K and I decided to change to an ISP offering faster speeds at lower sub costs than Virgin were offering.

I phoned Virgin asking for the MAC code to transfer, and they advised me to speak to their Cancellation Line, and see whether they could offer me a better deal. They offered 2mb unlimited downloads for £14.99 and I accepted. There was some time before the upgrade was completed, but now I have a fast service at a low price.
  • We have been with Virgin for a few months now and find it fine. We started off on the Plan 3 which was originally £17.99 per month but then it reduced in price to £14.99 so we decided to stay paying £17.99 and change to plan 2 but we found that we weren't really getting any better connection speeds and, as we don't download a great deal of stuff, we reverted back to Plan 3.

We have never exceeded the limit and so for a typical household with two young kids and a student hubby it's ideal.

The best thing is that you only pay monthly and can cancel the contract with only a months notice - so if you;re not happy you're not stuck with them for 12 months!

Virgin get quite bad reviews. Quite a number of ISPs now offer one monthly contracts.
I suggest you got to https://www.adslguide.org where you will get plenty of advice about the different ISPs. :)
  • One important thing to remeber re:broadband is dont shop for the cheapest deal try and find teh best company out there. I know that goes against the ethos of this site but there are so many poor companies out there offering cheap deals which offer a service which can only be described as shambolic.

Like the previous poster said check out the forums at adsl guide and also look at the customer satisfaction table there. There is nothing more frustrating than an unreliable broadband connection with poor customer service.
  • As there is a recent thread with some happy Virgin customers I'll merge your thread in with that one shortly icon7.gif

As the posts will slot in date order, go back to the beginning to read other reviews on Virgin.

The 12 bottles of wine sound quite nice icon12.gif
