I am fuming with Next....
I went into a large Next in the Midlands at the beginning of the week, in the childrens department, while I was browsing I heard ( loudly) a staff member swear using a f word, I had my little girl with me. I complained at the time & have called the complaints tell number, who have feed back to me & said that the staff member has admitted that they did it & realised I was there at the time & it did slip out. They have assured me it has been dealt with but that staff member is still in the same department. I am furious.
I know that children are open to the elements & are going to hear words like this, but now in a shop by sales person....
Vent over. I won't go back into that store. Not while they are in the same department.
Thanks for listening vent over.

Personally I am impressed that they followed up your complaint so quickly - it might not be ideal, but it was a sales assistant not a teacher. We have all said things when stressed which we later realise were not appropriate, and realistically, if she has been reprimanded by management there's not much more they can do. What do you think would have been an appropriate outcome?0

She made a mistake, Next followed it up very quickly (and dealt with it according to their rules), she admitted her error, and presumably will learn from this? What more do you want? And do you think they will realy care if you don't go in again?0
-
plus it all depends in what context the word was used, was it directed at you as in you f$%^ cow or did she hurt herself and say on f$%^
maybe if they gave you some vouchers you may go back.0 -
It sounds like it was a slip of the tongue. Would you like it if you lost your job or was relocated the first time you make a mistake at your place of work?0

Like you've never said a swear word when a little kid was around..
No ones perfect..0 -
Why should she get vouchers? If she wants her kid to look up to shop staff she has no aspirations for her kid!!0

I know how you feel, every time I go into our local Primark, I have to listen to most of the staff having inappropriate conversations about their latest conquests or their annoyance with the company/working conditions.
In the middle of a store, in ear shot of customers I think you should have expected a bit more proffesionalism tbh. Yes we know that children hear these words but surely not on the shop floor?0 -
I don't want compensation!!!!
I was shopping with my little girl who is 3. The staff member concerned was wearing a badge which stated they were the manager for the area. & to swear across the shop floor thinking that there was no one other than the staff members is a silly mistake to make. When I moved & they saw me they put their hand across their mouth so they knew what they had done.
They could have apologised at the time, instead they looked at me & then walked away. I complained on the way out & I was told this was gross misconduct. I feel that if language like that has to be used, maybe better away from the shopfloor & customers. You don't have to swear at people to motivate. I maybe old fashioned. Respect is earnt.I am sorry if I have offened.0 -
We understand that you're unhappy about the staff swearing which is understandable. What I think most of us don't understand is why you're still 'fuming' even after it was investigated.0
-
I was feed back to & advised, that it has been fully investigated & they have exhausted their disaplinary procedures in one day that just seems unlikely! I just feel I`ve been fobbed off. All I wanted was a sorry it shouldn't have happened, & I haven't had that.0
