    hi all
i called them up today, waited ages on the phone, luckily i called through a landline number..
anyway the guy on the phone checked my application and said it is received but my account is not opened yet, there was no reason stated on the system. he said try again midweek. at the moment i have a big sum of money sitting in my current account..
i've been advised to call them again next week midweek to chase it up. just so you know i believe i sent in the application on 8 nov..
anyone else in the same boat? or...anyone applied around the same time and have their accounts opened already?

BM Bond - they would have received my form and cheque on Tue 11th.
Money left current account today - so longer than the 5 banking days they said on form. Already had account with them so ne extra security checks should have been required.

I applied on 6 th Nov. Not heard anything yet. On the phone to them (BM) now.

They are sending another application out by special delivery.

Luckily I phoned, I suggest that anyone else who hasn't heard gives them a ring (0190 232 5944 if you have inclusive call plan).

I posted my application+cheque to them Friday 7th. Not a word since. I also have large sum sitting in current account (just phoned bank to check yet again).

What contact number are you using to speak to someone ? Their 0845 so called direct number just gives recorded message about honouring rate.
I need to find out whether my application received.

Could you give the number please ?

I used 01422 380880 ( as posted on another thread here).

When you get through ask to be put through to Birmingham Midshires savings. You will stilll probably get the recorded message, wait for that to end and then take the option about chasing up applications.
  • I requested an application from BM on the 9th. Yesterday I phoned them as I still hadn't received the forms. I was waiting ages on the phone and eventually found out that they have no record of my original request. I've changed my mind and am going to invest with someone else instead as BM are clearly incompetent.

I want to fix some money for a year and looking for opinions: is it better to get the interest yearly and risk going over my £50,000 limit or get interest monthly and then shift that to another access account.
I am tempted by the monthly option, can't decide and would be grateful for any views!!

Out of interest - did you apply by phone for original forms or via PC. I did it on PC and received 2 days later (9th Nov).
  • I applied by phone, sent the forms back on 10 Nov and just got confirmation post today that the account is open. I did open it by transfer from an existing BM account though.

Try Kent Reliance. They closed their 1yr and 2yr 6% fixed bonds yesterday but you can still download the forms here and get them back to them by 28th November ;)

“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”
  • So, after Kent's 6% Bond, the best alternative is BM at 5.6% 1yr Gross???
Anything else worth a look (for 10K 1-2 year).
    I'm all dun searching!
