I always send my apps by registered post. You can track it through the royal mails site to see if its got to them.

I don't normally bother but in this instance ( when important to secure rate) I wish I had - meanwhile money languishing in current account.
  • I sent an application for a fixed rate account today, in their prepaid envelope not registered. It had to contain stuff I really didn't want people seeing at all, but for various reasons had no option. I got to the post box just as the collection was being made so at least I saw it go!

Still wish I'd done registered though.

But then I recall sending an item registered (just a letter) and attempted to track it online. I had to contact Royal Mail to get the proof, which I seem to recall came in an email attachment from them about 2 weeks after the item got there!
  • Having now received both sets of paperwork for ISA and fixed rate, the ISA letter states:

It doesn't give a specific closing date. Whereas the fixed rate account letter states:

It also says on both letters that it will take 10 banking days to process applications and they will be unable to confirm receipt of applications by telephone.

Just phoned BM and got the same automated message. Happy days.

At SAGA spoke to a human who said today they have been processing applications dated 6th so will be doing mine Monday. Account not open until cheque clears . No confirmation paperwork likely to arrive until beginning of
following week . So effectively 10 banking days there too.

Hmmm, looks like the 90 days that B&B told me I had to fund my eBond might not have been correct. Just had a very poorly worded and confusing email from them saying:

"To get you up and running, you'll need to make your initial deposit within the next 14 days."

    and:

"If we don't receive your initial deposit within the next 30 days we will assume you no longer wish to save with us and we'll close your account."

it also states that deposits can only be made by cheque or by transfer from your nominated account - no mention of transferring from another B&B account.

Communicating clearly doesn't seem to be their strong point.

I filled in the online application form for the 1yr fixed rate bond with Birmingham Midshires last Friday evening, so was before they withsrew it, however it is now 8 days later and still not had the forms arrive, anyone else still waiting on their forms? Hopefully will arrive in time to get them back before the 30th!

Why is it in this day and age that we are having to suffer from such poor and slow service???

To be fair, I really think they have been inundated and have to print all the pre-filled out forms. I bet their printer has been going non-stop for the last week.
  • Call them and get them resent, just incase they got lost in the post. Better to be safe than sorry. They should be willing to send them again, if they already have your name on computer, to prove that you applied for the forms before the offer was withdrawn.

You need to allow 6 working days to receive the forms and 10 working days for them to process them when returned. I applied around the same time as you and received mine yesterday (ISA papers arrived the day before).

After allowing 6 working days and no sign of the forms I have just rang up to see what was happening - they have said they will resend them and that they should be with me within 5 working days - I assume today doesn't count so I will hopefully have them to me by next Monday and will have to send them back on Tuesday and will do it via register post or whatever is needed to ensure they have them by the 30th - fingers crossed I still get the rate!
  • hi all
i called them up today, waited ages on the phone, luckily i called through a landline number..
anyway the guy on the phone checked my application and said it is received but my account is not opened yet, there was no reason stated on the system. he said try again midweek. at the moment i have a big sum of money sitting in my current account..
i've been advised to call them again next week midweek to chase it up. just so you know i believe i sent in the application on 8 nov..
anyone else in the same boat? or...anyone applied around the same time and have their accounts opened already?
