You must have a ton of friends......

Cheers for pointing that out. What I MENT to say was swop them over,

No you didn't. You specifically said to remove one and it'd double the strength of the other.

In fact gizmos exist to balance them ~

And that does nothing of the sort whatsoever. It merely allows you to align the dish so that each one is getting the best possible signal, it doesn't amplify or attenuate the signals from the LNB or compensate for one having a weaker receiver/amplifier circuitry than the other.

Only one person making themselves look a !!!!!! here and it ain't me.

Sure youve allready done this but turn it off wait a few minutes then repower when it reloads it will reget channel listings. Also you can manuelly tune channels(at least you used to be able to) youll need the settings for the one your missing should be availble online.Am Surprised your only missing one channel though if its a signal problem id of thought youd be missing many or at least have low quality.

Sorry in advance if wrong forum- tried searching and this appears to be the forum where others have asked.

Anyway, for ages no we've had the error messages "no signal received" or "techinical fault with this channel". It happens whatever the weather and its constantly throughout the day and its driving me mad.

Phoned Sky and we are out of warranty and they want £60 just to come out... Im sure you can are all thinking the same answer I gave- absolutely no way!

So Ive tried all the self help things on Sky and the only thing I can possibly think is that the dish is facing the wrong way.... worked this out as ITV central is constantly on/off with error messages but I can watch ITV London perfectly fine.

So now the question is... is it easy as just turning the dish? My neighbours have Virgin- do I point my dish the same way as theirs or is it different for the Sky signal- sorry Ive really no idea.

Ideally I want to cancel sky but my internet is with them and its so cheap and efficient Im wary of swapping it over.

Cant believe Skys cheek- we paid £30 installtion of the tv, then 6 months later we paid another £30 installation for the internet- even though the customer installs it themselves! Now they expect me to pay for an engineer just to come out- thats without fixing the problem!

    Any advice/ideas appreciated

as fars as getting the wrong regional itv channel i dont think that is down to the direction the dish is pointing. i think there is somethign within your sky card that identifies were you are. i say that because when we have the kind of problem you have like no signal recieved what we do is take the card out(when the box is turned on) turn the box off if it will turn off(sometimes it wont then unplug it and wait a minute. we then plug it in again and wait another minute. we then turn it on and channel 999 or 998 usually comes on. put a subscription channel on like sky one and it should ask you to put the card in. it should then be fixed. anyway back to the itv thing. when we first turn the box back on and put the on screen channel guide on it says itv is itv central. after a short while it sorts itself out and goes to what it should be(tyne tees south).

The £60 callout is very good value and the main reason people tell you not to get Sky Cover. It covers everything so if the entire system has gone kaput and needs a full installation with a new dish, box and cables, you'll get that for your £60. It's not like calling out an electrician who'll charge you £60 to tell you what's wrong and then charge the cost of the job on top of that if it's any more.
Can anybody point me to somewhere official on Sky's website that confirms this?
